Listen to this podcast episode here: https://spoti.fi/3oitaNL

Sinead: he’s probably gonna drop it at midnight after this listening party it’s probably the last listening party let me tell you I have some friends who are like they didn’t drop it.

[Intro]

Rita: hi guys welcome to the onyx family podcast we are so happy you could join us we have Shiloh Shalom Mirthell me Rita Sinead and Shasha so today we’re going to be talking about several topics that are on everybody’s mind right now Donda the latest album dropped with by Kanye west we have who should be the new jeopardy host we’ve got what’s on your playlist and that kind of goes back to Donda right we want to talk about like how we just finished binging manifest and what a ride that was.

Sinead: I mean that sounded like a ride

Mirthell: yeah

Rita: And guys we want to also tell you guys a little story at the end that I think you’re going to like so let’s get started let’s talk about Donda. who here has listened to the album?

Sinead: I’ve listened to bits and pieces like you know I skip around one of those in albums I don’t listen to full things I just like yeah I pick and choose some songs especially ones that I see are trending I’ll be like oh let me listen to this and stuff yeah that’s how basically how I listen to albums usually.

Mirthell: I didn’t even realize that this album was out. I thought he was supposed to drop it the same day that Drake was dropping his album.

Sinead: no the thing is nobody knew when it was dropping um it kind of just dropped suddenly on like this past Sunday but it was supposed to drop last year right supposed to drop last year and then he didn’t drop it then he was supposed to drop it this year sometime in July and then that didn’t happen either he had three listening parties and after each listening party everybody thought he was gonna drop it even after the one last week they were like he’s probably gonna drop it at midnight after this listening party it’s probably the last listening party let me tell you I have some friends who are like they didn’t drop it.

Mirthell: he just keeps you guessing in everything in life and everything.

Rita: well I like that he does listening parties but this latest one that was a little bit interesting Kim Kardashian came out in her wedding gown he had um the baby and Marilyn Manson on there with him

Sinead: he set himself on fire.

Shasha: yeah like he made a replica of his childhood house the exact dimension exact look and he made a burn.

Shiloh: Is that subliminal?

Rita: I always feel like artists think on a whole nother level because that was a whole nother level of symbolism.

Shasha: Wait, Sinead, would you get one of our old houses and burn it for your listening party?

Rita: I was thinking that too yeah if you guys were gonna get us a childhood house which one would you guys?

Shiloh: uh I would do Sydney one house.

Mirthell: the blue house?

Sinead: I wouldn’t say the blue house I liked our blue house but the thing is I would say the victorian house that we used to live in yeah that one well I don’t know if it was cursed I don’t think it was cursed but I feel like it gives the feel of if it burns it would look good, I don’t know.

Shiloh: it had some pretty paranormal stuff in there

Mirthell: Oh man.

Rita:  I don’t think that house had anything paranormal going on.

Shiloh: I mean

Rita: Wow what are you talking about elaborate a lot of people think we live in some haunted house.

Shasha: A little backstory guys, the reason why we’re saying that the Victorian house is haunted is that there were bats in there so that’s why we have to get out.

Mirthell: oh the bats.

Shiloh: We found stuff in the attic.

Mirthell:  uh yeah we’ll have to tell that story another day.

Rita: yeah that was an interesting story, the bat story.

Mirthell: yeah, but Kanye I mean I think that Kanye is one of the most memorable lyricist rappers that there is ever. I mean he’s just very memorable. Not every rapper is a lyricist like some rappers are just like.

Rita: Well they repeat the same thing yeah over and over and over with no message.

Mirthell:  yeah he always has a message

Shasha: I mean he snapped with Jesus walks. That was a great song.

Mirthell: Yeah, he has a lot of interests.

Rita: and the gold digger was one of my favorites yeah it was funny.

Mirthell: So do you think he’s gonna have any of those like which song on his Donda do you think is gonna be that hit that people remember like Jesus walks or gold digger.

Sinead: All right now I’m hearing everybody’s liking jail and I heard some of jail and jail sounded good.

Mirthell: What’s it about? What’s it about being in jail?

Rita:  Well I don’t know, I don’t think it’s about him being in jail.

Mirthell: oh okay.

Rita:  Yeah.

Shasha: yeah well you’re clueless?

Mirthell: No, I have no idea.

Rita: But, I also heard that Jesus Lord is really interesting so that’s an interesting one um that people really like so you know there’s probably a lot of songs I think it’s like 27.

Sinead: yeah you gotta have to you have to take the time to listen to it because there are literally like 27 songs there

Mirthell: oh my goodness

Sinead: yeah so you have to take the time out of your day to really um listen

Mirthell: wow so do you think oh go-ahead.

Shasha: oh I was saying that I heard that he rented out a side room in the Ben stadium Mercedes Benz the Mercedes-Benz stadium while he was writing yeah and I heard it was super like what was it was like a big high rate each night but I feel like he was channeling his artistry I don’t know weird it wasn’t even like it was writing in his house stadium that was well really.

Rita: one thing I find about artists is that this is what I’ve seen is that they like to put themselves in an environment that’s not too luxurious something that will bring out the creativity like some people do they record their album in their home but other people like they go to another place so they might fly to Scotland or they go to Wyoming or they go somewhere else where it’s not familiar and they’re able to I think to free them from whatever constraints that you feel when you’re at home you know the bills the people around you the environment it’s I just think it’s really important I think they go somewhere that changes the whole environment.

Mirthell: he’s looking for inspiration

Rita: yeah

Mirthell: you know the idea or I don’t know if he was just doing this for publicity but he was gonna drop at the same time as drake do you think that him dropping it like six days or a week before drake will be better for him to do, Do you think he should have done it after do you think it’s gonna affect drake’s sales like what do you think?

Rita: I think it’s always all good I think it’s gonna be good publicity for both that’s what it all is like publicity is what sells things right you know if he dropped it and like nobody knew and nobody cared I think that it wouldn’t not only would it not sell well I feel like that’s not what the vision I think he wanted everybody to be on board like every artist wants everyone to buy their record but this one it seems like it was very personal for him yeah

Sinead: I mean he was asking the like to get it remixed several times and stuff like that’s why it was getting delayed like he wanted to be redone like have changes made in everything because he wanted to be perfect.

Rita: yeah he is a perfectionist but what I found funny was the people who were left off.

Sinead: what do you mean?

Rita: well Soulja boy did a verse he was left off oh Chris brown I think did a verse he was left off they say that jay-z’s verse was left off.

Mirthell: why did he do that?

Rita: I don’t know I feel like man if this is like an album some people say this is not just an album of the year this is the album of a lifetime if you had a verse on the album of a lifetime wouldn’t you be upset if yours was left off.

Sinead: he said his perfectionist mindset Nah this ain’t good enough.

Mirthell: well then if my verse made it I’d be like yeah I know I’m perfect yeah all right I’m perfect.

Rita: but I like the fact that he did do this album in a way that tells an actual story and narrative and I think it was a quote I saw from Beyonce pretty recently I don’t know when she said this but there was it to just put it into context what she was saying was that too many people now just release songs and they think oh well this song hit and they’re not being creative and telling a story as I think of her story with lemonade that album yeah like that was a narrative.

Sinead: and then the other one too this is her joint one with jay-z, I can’t remember

Rita: right right

Mirthell: what the camera was called Clyde Clyde or something like that

Rita: no that was a song but definitely artists these days I think there are two types there are ones that are just about let’s just get as much money as we can let’s just put out a what they think will be a banger or there are other ones who are more about the art and I think that’s IN everything guys even for us like what we do here especially like on social media you know the ones who are just like what’s the native latest trend we’re just gonna make money and then those who are like what about the art of it but and then it’s always usually about money or art because a lot of times you don’t get both but there are times that you get both like I think Kanye does right has both right he gets the money and he gets to do his art but I think if we all spent more time really cultivating the art and whatever you’re doing whether it’s music or whether it’s videos or painting or whatever it is I think that you’ll be a lot happier in life and you’ll probably end up getting more money in the long run because people would appreciate it more what do you all think?

Sinead: I agree with that

Mirthell: you gotta make sure that you’re in your passion and you gotta make sure that you’re putting yourself into whatever you’re doing you can’t just be copying right he’s a unique individual so how many of you um have his songs or is gonna have his songs on your playlist.

Shasha: Donda?

Mirthell: yeah like which one of his songs are you going to put on this?

Sinead: I got to listen to it again fully before I say it because yes I got to like it so I have to listen to something several times before I’m like okay now I’m going to add to my playlist got to get the vibe for it.

Mirthell: do you guys have him on your playlist at any of his songs like his old stuff? so we should share like our playlist like what’s your favorite playlist like who’s the artist

on your favorite playlist right now that you guys are playing.

Shiloh: Well I’ll go first. I don’t have a playlist of an artist I like. I just listen to random songs that probably like trends or just come up so yeah.

Shasha: oh maybe you’ll listen for like the art of it you know what I’m saying.

Shiloh: not I’d listen to the beat.

Shasha: Probably like you don’t have a homework playlist so you listen for homework.

Shiloh: Well yeah but those are mostly just instrumental.

Sinead: so instrumentals like game instrumentals or

Shiloh: Like I mean not really a game instrumental just like probably beats hip hop and stuff.

Sinead: oh okay just like random instrumentals.

Shiloh: not random, just hip hop or maybe anime on my playlist.

Sinead: Oh okay, I get that.

Mirthell:  I don’t listen to a lot of music either but when I go to work out I like to listen to a lot of gospel songs so some of the people on my playlist are one day I love one-day Lecrae Erica Campbell and you know some of the mary’s older songs as well Anthony Brown and group therapy and wall squalls group like these are some of you know some of the people that I listen

Shasha: I love god by Erica Campbell was the best okay

Mirthell: oh yeah yeah that trap song yeah

Rita: but I mean let’s be real like your playlist is our playlist you kind of listen to we always basically the same stuff and it’s so funny because you guys always tell me mom your playlist is like six years old well that’s because I okay guys I would have never thought that I’d be at an age where I just didn’t care about making playlists about listening to the latest song like I don’t care so unless you guys kind of introduce it to me I’m just like uh I’m sticking with whatever you know.

Shasha: all right one day is the best Christian rapper right now.

Rita: oh yeah I love one day, I love them.

Shalom: What was on your walkman you know when you were younger?

Rita: Okay, first of all, I had a Discman.

Shalom: oh I saw the word “man”.

Rita: and then I had a Discman all right

Mirthell: don’t get me and mommy started about our 90s.

Rita: now if you want to talk about the 90s I had everybody but I feel like it was easier back then too because I would be like driving to school and stuff and I’d have the radio on so they constantly would introduce you to songs like you had to listen or turn the radio off and who’s gonna turn it off now it’s like you gotta do like what Kanye did you gotta make it an event that people say oh I wanna go and listen that’s so true

Mirthell: no I’m curious what do you guys have on your list?

Shasha: whatever man okay so you know you know regular you know write the hip hop for my workout but what I love to do sometimes is I love listening to broadway albums.

Shiloh: broadway albums?

Shasha: this is new yeah this is heard me out okay listen it helps me so I like writing and stuff so it helps me develop a storyline so I was listening to this musical called company and like this song called not getting married and it was just like this it was just telling a story of like a one that didn’t want to get married up until we’re going to the isle and it was just so really funny it was like a comedic song you should look it up.

Mirthell: oh really I gotta check that out.

Shasha: people like Julie uh what was her name again that this set of music Julie Andrews did a cover-up and it’s just like it’s just really a comedic song it’s just.

Mirthell: oh my goodness.

Shiloh: Shasha this is very surprising.

Rita: right yeah if you can see on all of our faces like this.

Shalom: but I love that about you I mean when you like to watch hamilton like I always tell like some sort of story like like there’s never a time where they’re not singing they’re always singing and it’s always like acting.

Shasha: I didn’t like hamilton.

Shalom: You didn’t like Hamilton? I love hamilton especially like the sister songs what is it called you know the six dudes assistants.

Shiloh: yes but like you have to watch the musical to embrace yourself in the album Shasha I like it and I listen to it to music at all I watched the entire

Rita: yeah I made him. okay I said well I mean no I’m glad you liked it but I’m just saying Shiloh’s not necessarily our broadway, no no it’s good that you liked it but what I’m just saying is that people will go oh Shiloh’s into broadway I’m like well I mean I made him but I knew he would like it because we’re telling like you said he’s telling the story and I wanted him to learn about hamilton

Shalom: but yeah and it was cool because it was like history mixed with hip-hop and I thought that was creative.

Sinead: Shalom what’s on your playlist?

Shalom: my playlist yeah what’s on your playlist?

Sinead: I asked first.

Shalom: okay fine well like dad I like a lot of gospel music so I listen to a lot of that, I introduced you to most of them yeah so I like Mandisa I like the walls group yeah I listen to that I also like to listen to a lot of alternatives and I like a lot of um songs like you know the piano songs yeah

Mirthell: yeah yeah I do, That makes you cry.

Shalom: Yeah that’s true I like to make myself cry so like a lot of songs like that so yeah

Sinead: but who specifically do you have any people or not?

Shalom: well it’s kind of random, to be honest, I don’t like listening as

Sinead: you explore.

Shalom: yeah I like to explore I think that’s what you would call me I like to explore. What about you?

Sinead: for me, it’s kind of ironic like I make music but I don’t listen to that much music

but I think for me that kind of helps me to keep my sound different from others or also I’ll find myself copying their style their flow.

Mirthell: there’s a good point.

Sinead: but when I do listen to music again it’s like you, I have like a range I’ll be like listening to one day I’ll be into more pop one day I’m into more rock one day I’ll be into more k-pop.

Shalom: You hate POP.

Sinead: no no it depends on the pop it has to be like I don’t know like like lately I like Olivia Rodrigo’s pop album like that kind of thing right now right I think.

Rita: I think that’s good Sinead that you said that, though I think everybody that I’ve read about that creates what they do is they go on a run of like let’s say you’re an author you go on a run of reading yeah but then when you’re writing they don’t read it right they don’t read because then they don’t want to be influenced by that person but I can’t see any are where you don’t look at everybody else and the way the audience or the fans are responding to that because it kind of lets you know how the tastes are evolving right remember when we started guys remember how we started on youtube every morning remember how we would watch like certain channels right and we would see like okay what’s happening what’s everyone doing and even now like I’m I know for my age I know far too much about this youtube community that I should only because I have to stay connected to what’s happening.

[Music]

Mirthell: what do you guys think about uh jeopardy

them coming up with a new host I mean

they found someone and he was a disaster.

Sinead: You said well-read what is that?

Rita: well because you have to be well-read to be a contestant on jeopardy

you got to know a lot of things everything.

Mirthell: you have to be knowledgeable.

Shasha: I didn’t know that yeah wait I forgot what is jeopardy about again?

Sinead: the game show where it’s like something for 200 and you say what is and you answer like that.

Mirthell: you have to answer in the form of a question we’ve played that in our house before.

Shalom: yeah remember they have different categories from like different types of subjects.

Rita: Are you seeing the SNL skits what Keenan is the host

Shiloh: it’s like these people who are fast for 200 or

Shasha: oh like you’d answer what is Usain Bolt

Shiloh: yes

Shasha: who is? (laughs)

Rita: yeah who is

Mirthell: yeah but who is Usain bolt yeah the fastest man

Shiloh: you would say that and it’d be like who is the best man on the planet alive and then you say Usain Bolt.

Mirthell: right so um who do you guys think would be good I mean a lot of people are saying levar burton you know the guy from reading rainbow I don’t know like reading rainbow isn’t reading rainbow like a kid’s

Shalom: show it’s like over like 20 30 years old I don’t think our audience is going to remember that but he was on star trek

Rita: maybe that’s why I remember him as LaForge.

Mirthell: maybe that’s why they didn’t choose him because you know

Rita: it would be too campy like star trek.

Sinead: they probably want someone a little edgier or someone like who has an older

audience you know

Rita: I feel like he has it I don’t even feel in my opinion I don’t necessarily feel like people the star trek fandom which I’m a part of proudly would be like oh my goodness I gotta watch it because of just him I think he appeals to like so many people wait

Sinead: so would you want him to be it

Rita: yeah I would love it oh that doesn’t mean that I would watch it every week still

Mirthell: I want Keenan, that’s my choice my choice is Keenan. I think it should be someone

funny because the show is too like I don’t know

Rita: too stiff?

Mirthell: it’s too stiff.

Sinead: the thing is steve Harvey made a family feud.

Mirthell: yeah it was really good it’s true yeah he brought some life

Shalom: I can’t imagine them trying to do something different in jeopardy it’s been well established for years and so if it’s a little bit more for the older audience I feel like they should just keep it for the older audience because.

Rita: that generation is

Sinead: They can bring more money if they bring in more audience you know what I mean?

Rita: this is the perfect time to make a change because it was great with Alex Trebek it was like classic we grew up on him and I think that that was that era that would be like the tonight shows continuing the same style well actually yeah they pretty much do.

Sinead: no because I think jimmy Fallon has kind of changed it like when he came in you know.

Rita: Yeah that’s true.

Shiloh: two things one how is Jeffree so popular like it’s been around forever yeah but I haven’t heard any news about jeopardy and people are just talking about it in 2021.

Sinead: no that’s the problem that’s important that’s why they’re generating

Shiloh: no person who was born in 2000 and older has watched jeopardy barely Shasha, Have you watched it?

Sinead: and that’s probably true. that’s why they need to change it.

Rita: I would like Kevin hart to be the host

Sinead: I think Kevin Hart is so funny

Rita: I don’t know whatever that man is in I laugh so hard he’s just I just he’s like like my favorite another thing oh

Mirthell: yeah I honestly think they need to go with the comedian

Sinead: yes they go to comedians.

Shiloh: wait another thing is there like an o.g jeopardy per person?

Rita: Alex Trebek

Shiloh: who’s that?

Rita: like he just passed away recently

Mirthell: well you’re a perfect example of why they have to change it.

Sinead: Exactly, you don’t even know the main person who was hosting it that’s why they need to change the game.

Shalom: I would love billy ray Cyrus to be the host

Shasha: what?

Mirthell: okay.

Rita: what why I want to know why

Shalom: well first off he appeals to each generation’s your generation and my generation Hannah Montana country music star.

Mirthell: doesn’t appeal to me but

Rita: she randomly said it a few appeals to us (laughs)

Shalom: and it can get a little bit you know a little bit exciting yeah it’s countries

Rita: a little bit rock and roll?

Shalom: Yeah I mean I’ll be different

Mirthell: no I like billy ray Cyrus for country music but I’m not quite sure if that crossover would work that’s why I feel a comedian you know like someone like even someone that has I don’t know like Lisa Cujo or something like someone that’s just a little snarky like I don’t know you have to have a little bit of personality to fill that role.

Sinead: for this generation because I feel like that was good for the generation that he had before because that’s what everybody needed that’s what we wanted you to know but these days everybody wants someone snarky.

Mirthell: Right

Rita: I don’t want someone snarky

Sinead: no not snarky but like I don’t know if that’s the word right

Mirthell: maybe not the right word.

Rita: you know who’ll be good too I think James Corden I think I think he would be funny and charming and I just think it would be good

Shalom: but did you all see the video on Twitter where they’re promoting the

cinderella movie and like remember do you know how like every time they promote something

they will get out of their cars basically, he was like dressing up as like one of the characters I think it was a mouse or something, and then like basically he got to like the whole cast of Cinderella and they’re basically stopping traffic and just dancing and just holding up traffic

Rita: he’s super funny I know he gets a lot of slack but I don’t know why I enjoy him

Mirthell: He’s relatable

Rita: I think he’s relatable I think he’s funny and he’s charming but what about some females. like daddy was saying so we have Lisa Kojo anybody else

Shalom/Sinead:  who else.

Mirthell: that’s the thing you don’t want their personality to be too much like for The instance I like Wanda sykes I think she’s an amazing stand-up comedian but her personality I feel is very strong so not someone true you cannot appreciate the show because they’re so funny that it overshadows the shows they’re so funny that they overshadow the show they’re their personality is big so I’m thinking

Shiloh: uh you’re funnier than the actual show basically.

Shasha: what about the first one that comes to my head is Issa Rae.

Shalom:  she’s too busy with the film and television

Mirthell: she’s like a tv star like yeah yeah that’s her lane I’m not sure but definitely a female.

Rita: well you know what Yvonne Orji

Shalom: I love that

Rita: everything that she does I laugh with too as I love her, you guys got to read her book bamboozled by Jesus I love that book.

Mirthell: yeah, very good.

Shalom: okay I think dad Shiloh suggests himself.

Rita: you don’t even know the show

Shiloh: no actually I know the concept of the jeopardy Shasha didn’t know. I knew, I just didn’t know the host.

Mirthell: oh okay

Rita: that is like literally, the host makes the show.

Mirthell: no I’m so scared for your generation to host it like I want something like changed up but like I don’t know why do we have to ask a question you know why we have to ask questions like let’s just answer it you know and then the whole game show would be like

Sinead: yeah that’s bad.

Mirthell: the whole game show would be in jeopardy. it would be in jeopardy.

[Music]

Rita: I do think though that tv is evolving I don’t even understand how some of these games these game shows are on because people aren’t watching the same way for example you and I just finished binging manifest.

Mirthell: oh yes okay

Rita: and manifest is was on NBC but it’s not like you and I watched it while it was on

Mirthell: no no

Rita: we tried like like one episode but I’m not I’m the type of person now I like binging so if I want to see the whole season and that whole week that’s what I want to do so that’s what we did

Mirthell: and we got hooked

Rita: and it was just like we were hooked guys we were hooked.

Shalom: I just want everyone to know that I watched it like two-three years ago

Rita: the whole thing?

Shalom: not the whole thing when it was airing

Mirthell: oh okay.

Rita: so what are you declaring you watched a couple of episodes?

Shalom: yeah cause I just wanted to be first.

Mirthell: but the premise of the show is that there is an airplane and it’s eight to eight

and well I don’t know how to I don’t want to go into it.

Rita: but it basically disappears for five years and then reappears right as if nothing nobody has aged or anything.

Shiloh: also spoilers

Mirthell: and everybody else that when they came back five years later everybody else had obviously aged up and moved on in life and so that creates a lot of drama and the eight the flight 828 is symbolic of Romans chapter 8 verses 28 which is all things work together for good now they left off to them that love the lord which you know that that’s the punchline of that text but all things work together for good and so the whole thing is like showing how even though there’s a problem here and there’s it’s problematic them coming back five years later everything seems to be interconnected everything seems to be working out for the betterment of whatever the situation is

Rita: yeah they have to work together as a team to solve these mysteries like there are little mysteries and there’s not just mysteries but things that need to be resolved in people’s lives but then on top of it there’s the overall arching mystery of what happened and it gets very interesting it’s like we said we’re not going to spoil it for you guys but it’s amazing so guys I’m just saying that the state of tv is so so different.

Mirthell: yeah I enjoyed it I tend to not enjoy a lot of shows and I get even this show at some given point in time I just had to take a break like the binging it was like back to back to back and this is how it started looking to me Like

Rita: Mirthell before you even start please do not don’t even go there because I want people to check it out for themselves and I think people should just understand that you never hang in like any movie or any show so you Can’t take what he says.

Mirthell: I usually fall asleep so take it with a grain of salt what I’m about to Say

Rita: Hon, How will our audience take it if you start insulting it. please.

Shiloh: It’s always nap time for him

Mirthell: no no no no I’m not insulting it at all I’m just saying that what ends up happening when I watch shows like this it’s not even necessarily this when i watch shows they’re really into the cinematic music They’ll (copying movie sounds) but then it just keeps back and forth like that. And I start thinking like tokay now they’re gonna hug okay now it’s gonna be… good now they’re gonna hug

Shiloh: I can get dad it’s cliche

Shasha: but that’s every show movie

Mirthell: see that’s the problem with binging is is that if you eat it in bite sizes then you can take that because it’s like oh my heart races and then it went down it’s

Sinead: So I think he’s more criticizing binging because it’s binging and then you start to be like oh this is the same thing.

Mirthell: you start seeing the patterns

Sinead: and you’re just like and your body gets used to it after you’re when you’re binging at the same time.

Shiloh: that’s why you always have to see a show like when it airs like like one episode right one day

Rita: No i like binging.

Shiloh: no no no no no binging I know I know you’re just defending your favorite show right now she’s just just

Rita: no i like binging everything

Shiloh: I’m not offending it for being canceled or anything

Shasha: but it got renewed for the new season.

Rita: it got renewed, thank you very much

Shiloh: it got renewed because Netflix saw it they’re gonna milk it for like another season and that’s it I mean

Mirthell: the guy did want it to be six seasons and he only got four maybe six seasons

Shasha: It’s gonna be six seasons Shiloh

Sinead and Mirthell: it’s four.

Mirthell: it’s good so he’s going to take the last three seasons and he’s gonna have to merge all. (copying movie sounds)

Shiloh: It might look rushed and everything, It’s kinda like Timeless.

Rita: why you have to bring up Timeless? still very salty about timeless being canceled.

Shiloh: no no no no Timeless would have worked better if it had like a little bit more seasons but instead it got canceled all merged into one movie, yeah and now it ended on a finale which kind of got watered down and now people weren’t happy with it and now there’s another family’s being ruined so now.

Rita: well I think with timeless which like I said I’m still salty about that whole thing being canceled I don’t even feel like it was as edgy as manifest I think it needed to be a little bit edgier.

Sinead: it did need to be a little you know.

Shiloh: Yeah because it looked really like the kind of like a for like young adults like

Mirthell:  manifest is edgy

Rita: yeah it’s edgy yeah it has some

things

Shiloh: when I came in there he’s, spoilers.

Sinead: no

Rita: well I know what he’s going to say that’s not a spoiler okay

Shiloh: okay but when I came in like I was very weirded out because I went in the theater and I saw like someone burning and I was like

Rita: no it was something behind the person was not burning

Shiloh: well like and then they started chanting something so I was like what the hell

Rita: yeah well she was crazy it was it’s good but I wish timeless got the chance that this show got because I think there was a lot more storytelling one thing I want to say though about manifest too is that it is an extremely diverse cast it is an extremely diverse cast um no seriously like you see people of all walks of life ethnicities they have had people who are physically challenged or disabled um they’ve had everything in like like I was really impressed when um there was a lawyer she was in a wheelchair and she was defending her client and you guys don’t see that a lot.

Mirthell: right um that’s true

Rita: not only do you not see that on tv you actually don’t see that a lot in real life either so I like the fact that maybe that lady’s role was able to inspire other people to get into acting or even get into law either one because she was representing a lawyer and I just was impressed by the whole casting of the show.

Mirthell: well they’re breaking a lot of norms like for instance they have two main actors now on the show that are east Indian descent yeah usually it’s like we got an east Indian we don’t need anymore and it’s just like wow you got these two main actors of east Indian descent is like whoa and then the same thing you see Asians on there you see you know um black people and they’re you know everybody of every walks of life and it’s just like wow they’re being intentional about making sure of representation

Rita: right and what I also liked was that like I just mentioned it wasn’t just the able-bodied it was also people who are disabled so just shows like we said we had people who were skinny people who were big people who were straight gay everything was represented on the show so.

Mirthell: at the end of the day I like manifest because it tells a story that is not commonly told in Hollywood it’s given another perspective and I appreciate that and where we’re all about telling stories you know our motto is to you know to tell the story feed the soul make them laugh heal the heart so.

[Music]

Rita: and I was going to tell a story I know you asked me earlier to tell in this other story but   because we mentioned the bats I think that story would be better to tell okay this time and I think Sinead yeah you should tell this we can fill in the gaps because you know

Sinead: wait feel free to jump in

Shiloh: well we’re telling the original story though that you were going to say

Rita: Well I’ll say that in another podcast

Shiloh: okay but don’t forget though.

Mirthell: no no we already know we already but we want to tell this story because

you did bring up the house that was haunted so I think we need to clarify you know what was wrong with this house so Sinead is going to tell the story and we’ll help her out if she knows

forgets some details

Sinead: Jump in whenever you come in in the store you know what I mean like tell your side

Mirthell: yeah okay okay

Sinead: okay so it was sometime in the summer it was like July of 20 something and we were in this victorian house it had about three stories and a basement it was older so we had some you know some cracks crevices you know where things could get in where we leased it.

Rita: We leased it.

Mirthell: it was a four-story house.

Sinead: it was a what? four stories?

Rita: it was indeed four stories.

Sinead: that’s what I’m saying the basement

Rita: yeah four.

Shiloh: and the reason why it was that way was that it was an adoption house.

Rita: no it was a Victorian house but the people before us going there used

it as a foster home.

Sinead: so basically it was an old house and I was going to sleep one night and i

was next to a room so I had a room that was next to an outside

Rita: like a back porch.

Sinead: like a back porch so those are typically they’re not as sealed so I was next to that room and our dogs also stayed in that room as well so I was going to sleep one night I was just chilling I was laying on my back looking up at the ceiling and I heard the dog start barking and they were barking like crazy.

Rita: and I want to say this is before we had our current dog sug

Mirthell: yes shady shadow they were some big black golden doodles

Rita: they were guys when we bought sidebar here when we bought those dogs we were supposed to train them and I was like why would you send them to a trainer we can do it, no we can’t.

Mirthell: no we couldn’t that’s a story for another day.

Rita: but they were almost feral I love them

Sinead: so these dogs they start barking like crazy and I was like whoa why are they barking like crazy a couple of seconds later I see some something black just fluttering inside my room and not just one it was like I think there was like two things fluttering inside my room and I’m like wait a minute is that a bat I immediately screamed bat scrolls I don’t even know how my mind like in two seconds I rolled out of my bed military-style you know like I was in a burrito military crawling out my door because I don’t want to stand right I’m like oh they’ll just bite my neck if I stand so I usually crawl I crawl to Shalom’s room. she’s next to mine I’m like yo Shalom there’s a bat in my room she’s like what? and she’s like well I don’t want to stay here because it’s going to fly into my room next I didn’t think to close my door so I don’t know why I didn’t do that.

Mirthell: yeah you just left the door open.

Sinead: I just left the door open so we end up running while we’re screaming bat and we’re all running upstairs to our parent’s room who’s on the top floor of the house Shasha runs up with us she somehow wakes up because she hears us screaming, Shiloh’s not awake yet, Shiloh is saying

Mirthell: that’s true.

Shiloh: that’s true i am sleeping i am tuned out.

Mirthell: so basically, Rita was just like we gotta get Shiloh.

Sinead: Who rescued him?

Mirthell: We both went down.

Shiloh: They woke me up, I remember, I was on my bed sleeping i looked to my

right the door was right there and he was like Shiloh there’s a bat yeah you have to come right now

Mirthell: yeah we grabbed him.

Rita: first it wasn’t that calm

Mirthell: yeah it was wild yeah

Shiloh: yes

Mirthell: so we get Shiloh right we get Shiloh and mommy races Shiloh upstairs with the girls and all of a sudden they slam the door shut and they slam me out so i

can’t get back upstairs.

Rita: yeah because I wanted him to deal with it

Mirthell: they wanted me to deal with the bat now I’m thinking to myself okay I can deal with the bat but I need equipment here like these are I don’t know if these bats have rabies like I’m not trying to fight these bats on my own I’m trying to open the door they got the full force of onyx family five against one shutting the door dad get it dad gets [Laughter] eventually my family has compassion on me and says okay dad so I go upstairs and I have this big winter coat like it’s still

Rita: Okay I’m salty about that too where did it go?

Mirthell: I don’t know where it is

Rita: I don’t know what happened to that coat

Mirthell: this winter coat I fought bees off of it

Rita: yes yes

Sinead: we would wrap all three of us in the one coat just to go back

Rita: it was the best winter coat I’ve ever seen it was almost like

Mirthell: it was armored it was not just the winter coat it was armor it was armored to fight things oh it was huge

Rita: it was huge I don’t even know what size that was

Mirthell: it was my dad’s winter coat I think he bought it way back in Jamaica.

Sinead: and he said I’m in Canada

[Laughter]

Mirthell: but literally like I’ve never seen a coat that huge before.

Shiloh: where is it now though?

Rita: I don’t know we moved I think to I don’t know we moved one of our moves it just was gone

Mirthell: yeah but we had it up until the blue house in new york so I remember that because that’s where I fought off the bees anyhow so I had to go get my armor coat so I went upstairs got my coat wrapped myself up got gloves on to make sure that nothing could bite me it was so thick and then I went after it but I couldn’t find it it’s like it was missing I went everywhere I went through the house went everywhere I could not find it so they eventually let me back into the room

Sinead: yes

Rita: so we’re sitting in the room talking and we just said okay what we’re going to do is we’re going to spend the night on the fourth floor not knowing

Sinead: so we said we were going to spend the night on the fourth floor

Mirthell: all of us because that was yeah

Sinead: we said we’re gonna be safe together guys

Rita: Yeah it was big

Sinead: so we were like okay the bat is downstairs we don’t need to worry about it we also decided to call it pest control or animal control because we were like okay yeah yeah you can handle it they can cubs night right they didn’t they said they couldn’t come tonight they were like okay we can come in the morning and stuff but right

Mirthell: but they were giving us instructions right on how to deal with it because they said it could have rabies so make sure that you don’t approach it you know we’ll be there in the morning all that kind of stuff like that yeah and then

Sinead: they threw a little surprise

Mirthell: they were like they told us

Sinead: oh yeah “also they uh they like to go to the top the highest point yeah in the house”

Mirthell: “so don’t worry they’re navigating their way to the highest point so you guys don’t have to worry” we’re like wait for a second.

Rita: I feel like right after they said it literally

Sinead: no

Mirthell: right yeah no we are the highest points were we on the phone we all looked at

each other like what like they’re on the phone like and they reached the highest point in The thing where I was like guys they just said that they reached the At the highest point we all looked at each other like we are at the highest point and then all of a sudden,

Sinead: the bats come flying out of a closet

Rita: no we saw it yeah we saw I saw this little head coming out of the closet I still picture it now and I went I just freaked out I started screaming and we all started running down the stairs.

Shiloh: guys, this is not what we’re pushing we are not fictionalizing this this is you wouldn’t even believe it the timing of everything I am so serious it was.

Mirthell: it was unreal because actually everybody’s running Okay pushing each other out of the way like there is no love here in the Onyx Family.

Sinead: there was no love for that moment.

Shiloh: What was I doing?

Rita: We were dragging you along.

Sinead: Shasha had snacks, she was trying to save her snacks.

Rita: That’s true! She did, she brought her food.

Mirthell: Shasha ran for snacks so again we all headed down to the basement now we felt pretty safe that the bats were not gonna go down.

Sinead: so yeah we were like okay so now we’re good on the first floor you know we’ve stayed up the whole night playing I watched our monopoly.

Shiloh: I binge-watched the entirety of Gillian’s island on that.

Mirthell: so so the next day the guy came and he captured the bat and then they said they told us that if the bats smell other bats on the trail and they smell the trail of where the other bats go so more than likely there’s going to be another bat, okay and we’re like oh no

Sinead:  right especially me because they came into my room so first of all, I slept in Shalom’s room for a good week I was like I don’t want to see another bat just in case yeah I slept in Shalom’s room for a good week I was like you know what now I’m confident I’m just going to go back into my room I go back into.

Mirthell: they tested the bat and we went back and we found out that the bats did

not have rabies.

Rita: no they did not have rabies.

Mirthell: those didn’t have rabies, okay so we’re like okay I think we’ll be okay.

Sinead: right would that be okay it would be like okay good so I moved back into my room it was a good three days I was able to stay in my room for three days then I went to the back porch that’s connected to my room right I let out the dog you know I let out dogs I let out both dogs outside so we had a door that was like glass right okay and there are windows I close the door I look in the reflection of the door and I see the bat right behind me it was right behind me I scream I run outside because I didn’t have a choice I couldn’t run back to my room.

Shalom: yeah then I heard like I was on the other side of your room right and then I like opened your door and then I was like what is going on then the bat flew it right in front of me literally if I did not even if I did not shut it half a second it would have gone on my face because it the thing I saw the fangs and then it was like a movie it was like and then like I backed away because like the bathroom was like right across from your room I backed away I just turned from my mom and I was like “there’s a bat in there” I said it’s so chill so you know

Mirthell: long story short I don’t think we even spent one more night in that house I think we moved that day yeah

Sinead: no no we did.

Mirthell: we did not we gathered all

Rita: because we called pest control again because again it flew to the highest point which was our room and we saw Mirthell that it went behind like your sweaters remember how there was a show yeah yeah when we called pest control we said it’s over there somewhere and they never found it because they never found it we were like well that’s a wrap on this place.

Sinead:  come back to my room every week

Shalom: I just want you guys to know that you guys can see this whole thing animated on our channel.

Rita: Is it on our channel?

Shiloh: it’s on our channel and the storybook

Rita: yes storybook

Mirthell: yeah but guys I mean honestly we moved out that day and we never returned to the house I think I returned with the movers and stuff yeah I was the last day in that house.

Shiloh: I am salty you guys left that big tv that

Sinead: that held so many memories oh like those all the chunky TVs

Shiloh: that was so good so fast it was so huge we watched Indiana on there killing his island on there the Olympics on there

Shalom: I thought Kate Middleton’s wedding on there yeah and the Olympics

Mirthell: it was one of those large screen TVs but they were the bulky ones yeah the flat screen.

Shalom: Yeah I remember watching that back in 2005.

Rita: like yeah, it’s an old tv I think we bought it in 99 I think.

Sinead: Oh snap.

Shiloh: I am so salty because this is like 2013 or 14. yeah so we had that for like

Rita: it was long that’s a long time

Sinead: over 10 years

Mirthell: that we made we brought that big old TV

Rita: it was hard

Sinead: oh my goodness

Shiloh: yeah and y’all gave up so fast I just left there I took one more look at that TV I was like hey they gonna leave you

Shalom: yeah but we left the piano with when one of our other moves like our brown piano

Shiloh: who gives cares about the piano we have a piano right downstairs.

Rita: Shiloh what do you care about the tv you have a theater now

Sinead: yeah exactly

Shalom: Shiloh loves vintage stuff that’s the thing

Shiloh: do like do you ever play on the piano do we ever do that?

Rita: yes

Mirthell: you do

Shiloh: I do?

Shalom: because you’re forced

Rita: your Lessons?

Shiloh: no that was the Florida house

Rita: no no no no even here

Mirthell: but you know, wait no no no no no no no he’s talking about that

Shiloh: that piano

Rita: That was just for

[Music]

Rita: anyways but you know speaking of Florida The house I’m not gonna tell the story today but we have an interesting story about another critter in the Florida house remember that?

Mirthell: oh yeah we’re gonna tell the story about the storm but anyway

Sinead: wait wait wait

Shalom: we’re here everyday guys

[Music]

Mirthell: so we just want to thank you for joining

us on our show this is the place where

we like to share our opinions share our

viewpoints and to tell the story feed

the soul make you laugh heal the heart

Shalom: what stories do you guys have about your house what’s something memorable that you guys have interesting.

Rita:  Have you ever seen a bat have you guys ever seen a bat before in-person

Sinead: in person

Rita: because as Sinead’s mom I was terrified that thing bitter and then she would turn Just kidding

Shalom: have you guys ever seen snakes we have some stories about snakes.

Shasha: also if you um listen to Kanye west’s new album what’s your favorite song in Donda?

Mirthell: yeah that’s true

Sinead: let us know guys

Rita: what’s on your playlist

Sinead: what’s on your playlist?

Mirthell: yeah take care bye bye

Zendaya, Tom Holland, and CoryxKenshin’s Return | Shawties Podcast Ep. 1

Listen to this podcast episode here: https://spoti.fi/3EdFowq

Sinead: hey guys it’s your girl shaw Shonyxnx welcome to the first Shawties podcast we have me Sinead your host and my sisters,

Shasha: Shasha

Shalom: and Shalom

Sinead: Who are joining me..

Shasha: Yes, talk about what we’re about to do in this podcast?

Sinead:  Well before I talk about what we’re gonna do let me explain why we are the Shawties, we are all short!

Shasha: Wait, I’m old, I’m 5’1.

Sinead: Wow short.

Shalom: that is short I’m also 5 1 as well so you know.

Sinead: I don’t even think she’s 5’1, I think it’s just flat five

Shalom: No! I’m 5’1 in fact I’m probably 5’2 because that’s what my driver’s license said.

Sinead: no no no no no, she’s not 5’2. No, your driver’s license says 5’2?

Shalom: Yes!

Sinead: You lie!!!

Shasha:  You lied!

Shalom:  What are you talking about?

Shasha: There’s no way you’re 5’2!

Sinead: There’s no way you’re 5’2 guys.

Shasha: How tall are you, Sinead? I am 5’4,  so I’m the tallest shawty.

Shalom:  barely!

Sinead: not barely, I’m 5’4 and maybe even 5’4 and a half to be honest.

Shasha:  So that’s what Shawty means?

Sinead: Well like yeah, I mean like you know it’s like a cool term for shorty.

Shasha: wow!

Sinead:  you know shawty, shorty you know what I mean I don’t know if that’s actually the actual definition of it, but you know I don’t know.

Shasha: okay.

Sinead: but anyways today we are going to have a couple of things that we’re going

to talk about.

Shalom:  But what are we going to talk about on this podcast from here on now?

Sinead: That’s true in the entirety of this whole podcast, what is this podcast about? this podcast is basically

for all the Shawties out there, not for short people, for all the girls out there or guys you know that might relate to what we want to talk about, we’re gonna talk about relationships, pop culture stories that we have to tell, we’re gonna give advice, maybe even have some tea time segments.

 Shasha: Yes!

Shalom: oh.

Sinead: where you guys can send in some tea you know what I mean?

Shalom: I like that!

Sinead: yeah so we’re gonna have a range of topics to talk about, and just have fun and vibe you know? This is a vibing podcast.

Shasha:  It has a vibe! look at this set, it’s a vibe!

Sinead: yes!

Shasha: It gives me a Pinterest picnic?

Sinead: well the thing is you know this was my birthday set up for my 21st birthday and so we were like hey

Shasha: Happy Birthday!!

Sinead: Yeah you know so we decided to keep the setup and be like hey let’s just start our podcast with this setup so uh yeah

Shalom: yeah

Sinead: So in this podcast episode that we’re talking about you know without further ado we’re gonna talk about a couple of things we’re gonna talk about Zendaya and Tom Holland.

Shalom: yes oh my goodness!

Sinead: we’re gonna talk about he’s all that.

Shalom and Shasha: oh…

Sinead: we’re going to talk about TikTok and YouTube couples including diara and ken you know and then we’re going to talk about some fashion trends such as the ring dress.

Shasha: oh this is good this is good!

Sinead: yeah yeah yeah so we’re going to start off with you know Tom Holland and Zendaya.

Shasha: okay who has seen those pictures?

Sinead:  You know the pictures of her and the video about the wedding they went to.

Shasha: and the mirror photo with them you know the two just close together wishing a happy birthday

Sinead: and him saying “my MJ”

Shalom: that got me and it’s like give me a call I was like I was on the floor!

Shasha: first of all give me a call they’re probably right next to each other saying that and

Shalom:  no but I know right now she’s

currently filming for ya and he’s like

probably in London or England

Shasha: oh

Shalom: yeah London, London England oh that’s why you probably said that.

Shasha: oh.

Sinead: yeah yeah yeah but it’s just like I feel like that that confirmed their relationship.

Shasha: yes!

Sinead: We’ve been everybody’s been speculating for like a couple of months.

Shalom: But I like how they like suddenly just saying like they’re a couple but not like saying that they’re a couple.

Shasha: right people you know watch them said they’re like the best friends ever and like the next red carpet that’s like the closest friend

Sinead: That’s true. they’ll be like oh yeah he’s my closest friend like if you don’t just say that you’re dating.

Shalom: But I like that! I like that like you’re just like you’re secretive but you’re not like like you’re private but you’re not like a secret

Sinead: And that’s true sometimes people want to keep theirs. I can understand wanting to keep their relationship private. I mean with the way that we’re obsessed right now everybody else is obsessed right now. I can see why you know, they have the paparazzi pictures like in the car.

Shasha: yeah! Those leaked photos got me shook.

Sinead:  honestly I feel like they’re such a cute couple like,

Shasha: They are!

Shalom: I would ask this, would you guys like to do that sort of formula when your relationships like you know you’re like private but you’re not like a secret you know.

Shasha: drop some hits!

Sinead: I would probably do that, to be honest I would probably be like have a little fun like dropping hints they probably have that kind of fun like you know dropping little hints here and there

Shasha: But, I don’t like that! just tell me if you’re together or not. I don’t like these games!

Sinead: I would tell you guys!

Shasha: yeah I’m talking about it as a fan I want to know are they married or not?

Sinead and Shalom: like are they married??

Shasha: Who knows?

Sinead: Oh my goodness!

Shalom: wow!

Shasha: How long have they been filming together spider-man like how long?

Sinead: for years. When did they start filming um spider-man homecoming?

Shalom: okay I feel like the casting had had to start like as

late as or as early as 2014 2015.

Sinead: Wait, when did it come out?

Shalom: 2016. um

Sinead: spider-man or something came out in 2016.

Shalom: I’m sorry either 2016 or 2017. I I think it’s 2017.

Sinead: Maybe it was 2017 because remember they had to do civil war first and he was in the civil war and then they did homecoming came up.

Shalom: yes

Shasha: yeah so they’ve known each other for like five years?

Sinead: They’ve known each other for a while because they’ve been filming for a while and I can see the chemistry when they act like next to each other you know you can just like see it do you know that almost I think every single spider-man has dated the MJ in real life.

Shasha: are you serious???

Shalom: well I gotta say it’s a great promotion

Sinead: it is great for most and that’s why I was like is this publicity is it real?

Shasha: So it’s like the opposite of the superman curse, it’s like it is.

Shalom: oh snap.

Sinead: spidey bite spidey love bites

Shasha: spidey love bite. you always fall in love.

Shalom: oh speaking..speaking of spiderman.

Sinead: why don’t you go ahead and explain the superman curse.

Shasha: The superman curse is basically people saying that after you play superman that you die but I don’t think it’s real I think you know  just..

Shalom:  no, it’s like an accident,  just like tragic events happen like one of them got paralyzed I think by a horse. I think the whole I think was riding on a horse. I think he fell off the horse. I’m not sure if that really happened but something like he got paralyzed. like more like no it’s like no no it’s like accidents like they all involved with tragic events happening to superman or it’s like to the cast.

Sinead: oh okay okay okay.

Shalom: But like speaking of spider-man who’s excited for the movie?

Sinead:  I am excited for the movie.

Shasha: I haven’t watched the trailer yet. I didn’t watch it yet I saw a whole bunch of little clips and photos of them but I never watched the closure.

Shalom: so yeah the trailer.

Sinead: uh yeah the trailer looked awesome like literally, I love doctor strange I’m so glad he’s in this movie.

Shalom: dr strange? oh yeah, doctor strange.

Sinead: yeah I’m so glad he’s in this movie because i like him as a character.

Shasha: Wait, so is the premise of a movie basically when they try to rewind time because people know he’s spider-man?

Shalom: no he goes to different dimensions I feel like that’s the premise.

Sinead:  but that’s what happened basically he wanted to erase people knowing he was spider-man but in the trailer it said he was like wait I want mj to know that i’m spider-man and my friends to know but not everybody said well why can’t he just normally like be like tell him again but then it kind of erases the history they had from her spinning out he’s spiderman I don’t know.

Shasha: Oh like he’s trying to make a billion people not know but his friends know.

Sinead: yeah and doctor is like that’s not how it works kid you know.

Shasha: oh wow yeah yeah that’s good that sounds interesting I can’t wait to what is it coming out.

Sinead and Shalom: december

Sinead: So only a couple months, It’s September now?

Shasha:  Oh snap!

Sinead: yeah yeah

Shasha: And like is it coming on like streaming platforms?

Sinead:  That’s what I don’t know I don’t know if it’s gonna be theater streaming platforms. I just want to watch it right away. I don’t want to wait, I don’t even want to wait!

Shalom:  like three five months?

Sinead:  not five months three four months

Shasha: no it’s september now

Sinead: Yes, I’m saying like four three months.

Shasha: oh it’s so long.

Sinead: oh my goodness just like I just wanted to hurry up.

Shasha: me too marvel always gets me hype.

Shalom: yeah exactly okay same here.

Sinead: Have you guys watched the shows?

Shalom: no

Shasha: You mean on disney plus? like low-key right?

Shalom:  I’m not really into marvel shows or more than movies.

Sinead: I guess, it’s a little different from the movies.

Shasha: right they feel like spin-offs like that i like the real deal.

Sinead: oh like it doesn’t feel canon

Shasha: yeah it doesn’t feel kind of feels like side stories.

Sinead: uh i mean that’s understandable imagine spider-man became

a show instead of a movie.

Shasha: I’ve said no to that.

Sinead: Tom holland being like the lead actor for the tv series.

Shasha: actually i would watch that

Sinead: you’d watch it?

Shasha: yeah

Sinead: I think you like Tom Holland.

Shasha:  well yeah I like tom holland that’s why i’ve watched i wouldn’t watch with any other before spider-man’s.

Sinead: Speaking of watching stuff for someone you know like for example addison ray i feel like people are definitely watching that he’s all that because addison ray wasn’t that netflix here.

Shasha: I heard that it debuted at the number one spot on netflix.

Sinead: oh.

Shalom: wow.

Sinead: That’s really good for someone who came from TikTok as an influencer and then has a movie on netflix.

Shalom: but you guys know the premise of the movie right?

Sinead: at least like based off of she’s all that right?

Shalom:  yeah and you know what she’s all

that it’s about right

Sinead and Shasha: no (laughs)

Shalom: basically it’s like turning like the nerdy girl into like the hot one.

Sinead:  so he’s all that is the opposite like

Shalom: yeah he’s turning him into it yeah into like but here’s the thing he’s already hot so it’s like

Where’s the logic in that?

Shasha:  that’s funny.

Shalom: yeah it is but i don’t have you guys are you guys planning on watching it or did you guys already watch it yet?

Sinead: i did not watch it yet i just heard that you know it debuted really well and i’m just like you know i’m happy for her that it did well.

Shasha:  how big it is to be a TikToker and have a number one spot on netflix.

Sinead: Like that’s that’s that’s that’s  huge that’s big that’s that’s I mean I don’t even know she’s like a TikToker anymore yeah anymore coming from TikTok.

Shalom: yeah like an influencer just now transitioning into movies and stuff.

Shasha: That’s huge.

Sinead:  it’s always big when a social media star from TikTok or YouTube is able to do something big in the media like when Lily got her show on nbc or miranda did her show on netflix right people get these opportunities i’m  always like wow this is great for you it paves the way forever.

Shasha: yeah everyone else who are influencers that want to be movie stars now

Sinead: or in tv or tv people music.

Shalom: But do you think it’s fair to those who have been in the industry for years to see like influencers have barely been, you know working for like a whole year for them to transition to like big movies, stuff and concerts.

Sinead: they probably like those same people probably say the same thing about streaming people people that have come up from streaming instead of network there’s like there’s just a change in the industry and it’s always gonna be a change in the industry which i don’t like i’m not negating like how they feel but i’m just saying that there’s always gonna be changes in the industry so right the same thing with streamers streaming people that came on streaming shows they blew up immediately people like the stranger things cast or OBX people that just blew up because of netflix or right?

Shasha: yeah i mean things are always changing and you can even see the same same thing like is it fair that farmers these days have better equipment back then when they had to actually rake the grass themselves it’s like it might not be fair but things change and we can’t do anything about it

Sinead and Shalom: yeah it’s true, It’s true.

Shasha: That was a very interesting question.

Shalom:  That was yeah.

[Laughs]

Shasha: guys this is like our first podcast that we’re doing as sisters with our whole

Family.

Sinead:  It is, how are we doing?

Shalom: how are we doing? can we even hold a conversation like like for like an hour tops like

Shasha: Oh man, I can’t .

Sinead: you really don’t think you could hold a conversation for an hour?

Shasha: I’ll  hold the conversation, I’ll get tired. like low-key guys like don’t you ever feel tired mid-conversation like you just want to stop talking you just want to stop talking.

Sinead: you just gotta walk away.

Shasha:  i imagine nobody’s talking to someone and then you just walk no reason

Shalom: i would walk past you guys i’m like should i say something i was like nah..

Sinead: why is that such a mood that’s an actual mood that’s actually like do i feel like saying good morning be like nah not yet i’ll say it in like five minutes let me just wait.

Shalom:  but i like that’s like the most comfortable relationship you can have with someone like you you just don’t need this but you don’t need to say something right you know when the silence is comfortable then you know that you’re good you’re cool with that that’s when i know that person is the one that’s my best friend that’s my soul mate that is the person.

Shasha: right because silence can be very scary sometimes.

Sinead and Shalom: whoa whoa whoa

Sinead: i said that’s so difficult do you mean like silence can be scary when you’re

awkward with the person?

Shasha:  yes!

Sinead: okay because that was really weird like silence could be so

Shasha: no not the silent treatment oh my goodness.

Shalom:  I feel like that’s why people love animals because like you don’t need to have yes the need to talk to them you just their presence is there.

Sinead: yeah that’s why i highly recommend people getting a pet because especially a dog you know that’s why i love Sug.

Shalom: I hung out with him the other day. I was like I’m bored. I want to hang out with someone but i don’t want us to want to talk that’s just like well.

Sinead: That is such a great idea.

Shasha:  You know that Shalom actually is afraid of dogs so her saying that speaks a lot.

Sinead: now what i do is that he has like gates that we kind of block him off to not go in certain rooms and so what i did is that i blocked him i wanted to hang out in the living room so i like took the gates and kind of rearranged it where he just he doesn’t like.

Sinead: she doesn’t want him to hurt his nose to touch her at all like or any part of him yeah like oh it’s slimy or whatever you know.

Shalom: yeah so I just kind of like i gave him enough room for him to like roam around but for me to also just like you know have a comfortable amount of space.

Sinead: I have a question,  like do you think that when you are in a relationship do you feel like you’re gonna be like i need my own space or you’re gonna be like hanging around first like all the time?

Shalom: you know what i saw in TikTok i saw this person like she was having like some sort of crisis like when she was gonna get married to her fiance saying like i’m not gonna have my own room anymore and like but her husband like made some sort of arrangement where like she has her own room like they share a room but they also have her own room where she puts all her stuff.

Sinead: yeah would you be like that do you think it would be like that for you?

Shasha: Huh? that’s weird and this is a man cave or like a woman cave?

Shalom: yeah it’s like that!

Sinead: yeah it’s like a woman cave.

Shasha: Okay and that kind of uh it’s kind of weird if you try to sleep in another room that’s weird.

Sinead: yeah that’s true!  a lot of people do that a lot of people have like they sleep in separate rooms because well some people are like they have sleep problems right like say one person stays up later and stuff like that and they get easily woken up or something like that they sleep in separate rooms

Shasha: that’s still strange that sounds like a 1950s kind of relationship like you know back then they were stupid separate beds that’s weird because i thought i love lucy like they went for beds and i was like what what is this.

Sinead: yeah that’s true!

Shalom: I think it’s censorship on TV back then oh but I also think that some couples did that but that’s weird.

Sinead: speaking of couples you know i was thinking about how like De’arra and Ken they broke up but they didn’t like officially say they broke up but they had that you know they had that nice video where they were saying they’re moving on to different paths they both made their own channels and Dyara’s going to focus on fashion and beauty and things like that and she’s been wanting to do it for a while what do you guys think of that?

Shasha: I mean it’s so cool because I feel like they’ll be actually able to express their individuality even more having their own separate channels. De’arra is really into cooking so I think that’s actually what it is.

Sinead: Oh yes I remember seeing her stories and oh she got banger food even as a vegan, i’m like I love it.  that crab looks good, that looks good.

Shasha: Are you cheating on veganism?

Sinead:  no i’m just saying that it just looked good hold on a second guys i was saying it just looked good.

Shalom: I’m actually happy for De’arra because she has so much personality to her fashion to her cooking i mean like she has so much to offer.

Shasha: And I wonder what Ken’s gonna do on his channel. What is he into? I haven’t really seen him.

Shalom: Me too!

Sinead: You know I’m not really sure I’m interested to see what they’re gonna get into because the thing is i feel like you’re right with saying that they can express each other themselves more because as a couple channel you know i feel like that you focus on just being a couple.

Shasha:  yeah.

Sinead: couple things but not necessarily yourself.

Shasha:  what you’re interested in.

Shalom and Sinead:  right right

Shasha: your  hobbies.

Sinead: I wonder do TikTok couples do the same thing? like just focus on couple things and like you know.

Shasha: I’m not really into TikTok couples.

Sinead:  Do you guys know any TikTok couples?

Shalom: I think there’s a lot of TikTok couples. I just don’t know them by name but just by face I can recognize them.

Sinead:  yeah cause you’re scrolling through so many faces on the for you page that i could be like oh i know them i could see their face but i don’t know their name you know

Shalom:  exactly

Shasha:  I only know they broke a long time ago. I only remember like charlie and little hoodie that was years ago that was years ago though.

Shalom: I wouldn’t yeah classify them as a TikTok couple.

Shasha: yeah

Sinead: but at the time they were it was but she was more into TikTok

Shasha: That was so long ago though now.

Shalom:  yeah but i definitely do see a lot of TikTok couples and they have a huge following of 16 million 18 million like there’s definitely a new era of TikTok couples

Sinead: Over YouTube couples, yeah because yeah couples kind of like faded off.

Shasha: they faded for sure

Sinead: like you know how they were back in the day you were just like you could list youtube couples and now it’s like they’re kind of faded off they’re going on doing their own thing and now it’s about the TikTok couples even though i don’t know them the thing is i feel like i’m just out of the generation that knows all the TikTok people right like like i go on TikTok but i feel like i’m in a different section you know there’s different sections on TikTok my favorite page is just different from what people slightly younger than me are getting.

Shalom: oh that’s true.

Shasha:  like like what is your for you

page my for you page is full of gaming

anime what k drama and then some funny

ones you know what i mean

Shalom: oh yeah i feel like for me it’s more i’m on christian TikTok like the sane one like the funny one that was like funny memes.

Sinead:  I’ve seen some of those too like the christian TikTok.

Shalom:  I’m also on the anime TikTok.

Sinead: oh, I’m also on BookTok.

Shalom: I love BookTok

Shasha: I’m on BookTok too!

Shalom: I love BookTok, it’s so fun.

Sinead: yeah that’s the thing it makes me want to read then i get out of my zone i’m like i’m lazy.

Shalom: What about you Shasha?

Sinead: What’s on your For You Page?

Shasha: um you know what more of memes it’s just random i don’t have a personalized one like you guys

Sinead: really? random

Shasha: it’s like personalized ones that’s in like you know

Sinead: how do you like you don’t like anything on your page?

Shasha: I do all the time.

Sinead:  maybe that’s why you’re not you’re not focused with your likes.

Shasha: Maybe I am not, because even with like i like stranger things a lot I like a lot of that it’s never on my for you page never.

Sinead and Shalom: really?

Shasha: exercise stuff is never on my for you page i like a lot of those i don’t understand.

Sinead: what? that’s that’s so interesting i’ve never heard where your page is really random it’s like almost like maybe you just have a lot of interest?

Shasha:  I don’t know man but those memes do be weird sometimes.

Sinead: yes, That was funny!

Shalom: Oh, I was once in  jail, TikTok.

Sinead: No, sometimes I get jail TikTok.

Shalom: um weirdest TikTok firefighter TikTok.

Sinead: i’ve seen nurse TikTok dentist TikTok i see dentist TikTok lot for some reason oh yeah

Shalom: (laughs) oh

Sinead: what what

Shalom: there’s this one called butt TikTok where she talks about like um certain things how you can like

what’s that thing when you call can con contract not contractions it’s constant

Sinead: constant constipation?

Shalom: yeah like consultation tips constipation tips yeah like with the things that you eat that you know that can help you go better like i like.

Shasha: tmi tmi

Sinead: but you know what i mean i guess it’s health stuff health TikTok

Shalom: Oh yeah yeah yeah I’m actually on Health Health TikTok a lot!

Sinead:  okay okay, you know that’s that’s okay.

Shalom:  well no because like it varies okay like it doesn’t like you talk about like teeth and stuff like that okay you’re talking about constantly, never mind anyways.

Shasha: it’s really interesting i feel like youtube um is trying to make the algorithm like that trying to make it kind of like random like that because i remember youtube it must be more focused on your subscription feed now i feel like it’s more showing you random videos like TikTok

Sinead:  right no like whatever you start watching now it has recommendations based off of that i’ve noticed yeah

and then they have the short feature too and stuff like that

Shasha:  right shorts like instagram reels

Sinead: like instagram it’s funny how you said like instagram reels instead of like TikTok,

Shasha:  like TikTok

Sinead: that’s really interesting

Shasha: no i just said that because i just related to it they’re cousins they’re they’re kind of the same wow like snapchat shorts.

Shalom:  how do you guys feel that Cory Kenshin’s is back?

Shasha: Yo i was shooketh.

Sinead:  i was so shook you see what happened is i saw a tweet and i was like it was said cory came back cory uploaded a video i was like nah cause you know sometimes i would get a notification it would be like cory something’s on something but it was actually a recommendation from a video that had something to do with cory yeah and it wasn’t actually corey so i went to youtube not really expecting much and then i see he actually posted whoever doesn’t if you guys don’t know who cory kenton is he’s basically a very popular gamer he is black he’s really influential in the gaming community and he’s made quite a following he has 10 million subscribers and he had said a couple months ago or something almost a year ago yeah that he was going to retire at 10 million so he had uploaded a video that said at 9 million saying you know the journey is almost over and everything and then he didn’t upload for several months again until now he has come back and he has 10 million now he got his diamond play button which looked pretty cool

Shasha: I know Schlump said that she was probably waiting for the diamond. Actually, in the video he was waiting for the diamond play button to come to him before.

Sinead: and he did explain why he was gone for a while because you know some people’s family got covered had to deal with some things and some of them still are in the hospital and everything like that so we’re definitely praying for them but he said also that he wasn’t gonna retire how did you feel about that?

Shasha:  um you know what he was gonna come back one day even if he did retire he was gonna miss us he was gonna come back you know what no matter what so i was i held onto that hope .

Sinead: i could see that i could see thinking like that i was definitely happy i was like you know i was like you too thinking that okay even if he did retire i feel like he’d get out of retirement and come back So yeah i’m just happy to come he’s coming back but not just coming back to his channel he said he’s also gonna make a new channel

Shasha: what?

Sinead:  yeah

Shasha: What kind of channel?

Sinead:  he didn’t say he just said that he’s gonna make another channel he’s gonna grow that one to 10 million and grow the other one to 15.

Shasha: well that’s ambitious okay

Shalom: yeah i think it’s gonna be gaming related or like more podcasts

Shasha:  i think he’s gonna cook he cooks a lot

Shalom: i think he’s gonna do like talking

Sinead: and yeah he cooks but he’s is he good at cooking? corey x cooking has been learning how to cook.

Shasha:  he may look good though

Sinead: oh my goodness i don’t think he’s gonna vlog though i feel like it’s gonna be something else

Shasha:  I don’t think he’s gonna do gaming though.

Sinead:  No, so i don’t think it’s gonna be a gaming channel either.

Shalom: me  neither

Sinead: maybe a reaction channel?

Shasha: a reaction probably a reaction

Sinead: or a podcast

Shalom: I think he’s gonna do a podcast i feel like he’s at the age where he’s gonna like you know a lot of people,

Sinead: Are you calling him old?

Shalom:  i’m not calling him old i’m just saying that when you’re doing video games right and you know you’ve done that whole thing you tend to always like cal state you didn’t do video games

Sinead: right and right

Shalom:  Now you’re doing podcasts, now you tend to want to do something different and a lot of people are doing podcasts right now.

Sinead: If you did a podcast I would definitely listen.

Shasha: oh for sure smith voice i was talking about this time where uh he he was like dancing with this girl this crazy dance in his gym stadium he actually had a video of it in one of his videos and i was like that’s such an interesting story i want to tell more stories about his childhood and stuff he sounds interesting

Sinead: no i remember him telling a story about how he got bullied now his dad was like proud of him for standing up for himself like he’s good he’s a good storyteller yeah so i can listen to him on a part

Shasha: for sure who are other youtubers who you would listen to in a podcast?

Shalom:  Would you guys listen to us shawties? I mean if they’re here are they gonna stay?.

Sinead: Clearly listening if they just heard you well are you gonna stay facts we have about what other youtubers would you want to listen to any celebrities would you listen to? Cardi B if she had a podcast i think oh funny i think she’d be really funny on a podcast.

Shasha: for sure!

Shalom: i would listen to the queen the queen of

england

Sinead: what?

Shasha: really?  that’s true she has a lot of tea would she spill it though

Sinead: no exactly she’s too proper for that

Shasha: she wouldn’t spill it, okay okay okay the celebrity has to say everything spills everything

Sinead: okay then the queen would be interesting

Shalom: yes! The Queen.

Shasha: yes the queen man oh man can you do past people too like you’re dead yeah oh man oh this is a lot I have a lot of people on my line um

Shalom: who would you listen to fun history oh peter

Sinead: who’s peter?

Shalom: from the bible i

Sinead: you know that would make an interesting podcast

Shasha: that would be though

oh even from the past history

Shalom: yeah that’s what I’m saying

Shasha: you kind of think um man this is so hard.

Shalom: come on you guys Cleopatra Harriet Tubman George Washington

Sinead: I think Harriet Tubman would be an interesting

Shasha: Harriet Tubman the runaway podcast.

Sinead: I think she will be, the runaway podcast? you’re naming her podcast already?

Shasha: well this is really fun um characters too fictional characters

Shalom: I love this oh, the doctor

Shasha: the doctor who? and that he would have interesting stories.

Sinead: that’s true it’ll be all wild and all over the place

Shasha and Shalom: yes yeah

Sinead: my doctor who era was quite my an era

Shasha: which doctor do you want to play host Podcast smith

Sinead: um um um Peter Capaldi I don’t know why he said I just feel like he’d make an interesting podcast.

Shasha: okay

Sinead: yeah, He’s one of my favorite doctors.

Shalom: I still can’t believe that he’s one of my favorite doctors yeah i still can’t wait

that’s your favorite doctor but David is right there

Sinead: no I’m not saying that David Tennant isn’t

Shalom: and Matt Smith

Sinead: I understand that peter Capaldi is one of my favorites he just had a lot of personalities when he was the doctor I don’t know it was different

Shalom: I feel like at that era when he was on I was like it kind of like waned off because matt smith

Sinead: you missed out on some good episodes in dr hill I’m just saying I was a doctor who fans I was in the fandom fully I was you know

Shasha: she was I’m such a geek oh I got one

Sinead and Shalom: what who?

Shasha:  the guy that kidnapped aladdin sorry not jafar the guy that kidnapped the princess wait he didn’t kidnap um jasmine no wait.

Sinead: what princess are you talking about?

Shalom: what are we talking about?

Shasha: sorry rapunzel oh flynn flynn i love flynn i want flynn to host a podcast

Sinead: I think the genie could also podcast to be honest

Shasha: the genie from aladdin

Sinead:  imagine we had a podcast about talking about all the wishes he gave and what happened after they had the wishes that would be a good podcast

Shasha: that’s a good one wait is flynn I’m sorry this is a side note is Flynn cannon to the actual rapunzel story

Shalom:  No, no

Shasha: oh okay he was really funny in that movie I love that was my favorite Disney movie Rapunzel anyway sorry that was just a side note I wanted to say that.

Shalom: you know hosting a podcast is fun I don’t know I just i like talking I like the setup we should have like a sort of mukbang sort of like we should do a mukbang episode we should

[Music]

Sinead: okay guys so you guys are looking nice today I would say you guys looking fashionable on youtube nicely I can see your style and everything but speaking of fashion I want to ask what do you guys think about that dress trend that people have been wearing recently like people I’m saying celebrity.

Shasha: talking about the three-ring dress.

Sinead: three rings four rings it’s the ringed dress

[Music]

Shalom: it’s definitely something

Shasha: it definitely is I don’t think i can pull it off i don’t think so i think you guys will pull it off better than me i don’t know

Sinead: no no you see i here’s a fun fact i bought that three ring dress or i bought a version of it right and I was like oh this looks on that you see it’s just it’s a lot.

Shasha: it looks like a rip curtain

Sinead: whoa i wouldn’t go that far sis

Shasha: no because the one that you had most people are wearing the short ones but you had a lot

Sinead:I did have a long one that looked like more like a curtain i put on a curtain

Shasha: no i mean a ripped curtain because i like had a long long slit

Sinead: yeah yeah yeah i would say look like a ripped curtain but it’s not something that i would just step out and wear because like it’s just i don’t know i’m not i’m not.

Shalom: you gotta be the commando and I don’t I don’t think I’m comfortable with that

Sinead: yeah that’s i didn’t know how to say it and so yeah that’s the word you gotta go commando and i was like um i don’t know about that i don’t know about that you know what he’s like for pictures i wouldn’t go out in a party like that

Shalom: no no it’s literally just for you to look at yourself in the mirror compliment yourself and how good you look and then put it away

Sinead yes yes and you know what that’s what i did i put on the dress i looked at myself said you look good today took it off fold that thing up put that in the closet.

Shalom: same here because I bought the dress as well

Sinead: actually we both were like oh wow

Shasha: wait so where do you where do people wear this dress because guys we’re not party people so no

Shalom: No, were not

Shasha: like where would you wear this dress when you’re not invited where do you go?

Sinead: Walmart

Shalom: a picnic

Sinead: birthday party a lot of birthday party

Shalom: rock climbing

Shasha: I hope you’re joking

Shalom: I was thinking of events like that was the first thing i popped in my head

Sinead: a cruise I guess

Shasha: see my mind is so quarantined brainwashed that I can’t really even imagine going out right now.

Sinead:  if you wore that on a cruise you know all the older people that go on cruise lines oh my goodness, what are you wearing on this cruise ship?

Shasha: oh my goodness for real though I  honestly don’t think I want to even if i didn’t have the body to pull it out i don’t know if I’ll have the confidence o pull it off because you have to go commando I don’t think I can do that yo what was the most not weirdest, but what was the most like outfit you ever wore out ever out?

Shalom: oh that’s a good question

Sinead: probably a spider girl costume maybe

Shalom: oh yeah, yeah oh I wore my joker outfit for like a skit once we were collaborating with this other channel and i wore this mask no no I don’t know if it was the joker outfit or something else yeah.

Shasha: okay besides our videos what alpha that you were like ooh this is really cool then you realize when you stepped out like oh I overdid it.

Shalom: ah you see I’ve never been in that situation

Sinead:  yes I don’t I mean I know you I don’t think you have no, I can’t think of a time when I overdress

Shasha: I mean I have to say the weirdest when I wore a pineapple shirt a

Sinead: pineapple shirt yeah it’s not really out there I guess it’s not I’m trying to think of something that I’ve worn that

Shalom: maybe it’s like I feel like for you it’s like some sort of shoe like some more like high height shoe.

Sinead: maybe if I wore high high heels and I’d be like okay no i know when I felt like I overdid it.

Shasha: what?

Sinead: when we went to a white party and I was wearing heels that’s why I knew I overdid it even though it wasn’t even like super overdoing listen I never really been to parties that much I didn’t know you could just wear sneakers to a party right so I wore heels to the party because I was like okay you wear heels to parties right and everybody else in sneakers I’m like man I definitely overdid it and then I knew I overdid it when I had food in my hand and I tripped over myself in the heels.

Shalom: I felt so bad for you

Sinead: and it was the same party that Sasha Obama was the Sasha Obama yeah the same part of the social bomb was out I’m like bruh.

Shasha: it was it knows to be exclusive, a very very special party

Sinead: yeah it was very exclusive um what was it it’s called the white party this was white party by jack and jill it was like jack and jill yeah i knew i overdid it that day.

Shasha: how old were you?

Sinead:  i was fifteen i think fifteen or sixteen i think i was just about to turn 16. yeah i was about to turn 16.

Shasha: yeah you were probably

Sinead: one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.

Shasha: i feel like whenever i feel likei would go to church and then feel like i’m over dressed like maybe i should put a shawl on a shawl that was such an old term a shawl such an old term no if i feel like my dresses i feel like you can’t talk about me for anything Sinead you just wore heels to a party. i feel like sometimes i would be too overdressed for church.  like you know some people wear jeans and stuff to The church you know we had to be in the full nine we had to be yes the stockings the the heels of the strap over it like you know the mary jane heels

Shasha: yes the mary jane heels

Sinead: oh my god yes you got you had to do the whole shebang

Shasha: I don’t think we ever wore jeans to church

Sinead:  I  don’t think so maybe like one time it was first like some i don’t know some social event or whatever i don’t know.

Shasha: all right i feel like we were like black pants so fans like once

Sinead: i don’t remember wearing pants at church

Shalom: i wore pants to church all the time

Sinead:  later on but i’m talking like

Shasha: as pastors kids we did not wear pants not really.

Shasha:  no i did

Sinead: once like or twice

Shalom: that’s true yeah yeah we grew up in a very traditional.

Sinead: she is very traditional.

Shasha: stockings oh my goodness wasn’t the summer we wore stockings too

Sinead: yes until it got super hot then you didn’t then we

can go without the stockings.

Shasha: right oh my goodness and then sometimes it would get a hole in it and i would play with the whole and then it would be like ripping all across and then you have to get new ones a whole drawer filled with stockings in the day that we stopped wearing stockings because we were older i was like hallelujah!

Shalom:  now would you let your children your daughters wear stockings?

Sinead:  yeah they’re wearing stockings.

Shasha: yes I’m going to torture them like yes you can wear stockings

Sinead:  and don’t forget the balls and the hair

Shasha: the balls in it, yes and they would expect yourself like this vacuum in the eye hurts they’re getting the same experience.

Sinead: yeah yes Facts

Shasha:  you have a twist in the front and the bun in the back that was the story yes that was the style so cute we look so cute we did low-key.

Sinead: we actually looked really cute we slayed actually yeah we did we just play

Shasha: that was my peak-era

Sinead:  really?

Shasha:  yeah dressed up hair it did edge is laid

Sinead:  yeah how often do I dress up now?

Shasha and Shalom:  you do you dress up

Sinead: like I usually take some I’m working but I mean like outside of working

Shasha:  that’s true I would not even bother

Sinead: I would not bother if I wasn’t working yeah no

Shasha:  I would wear straight jeans to The church now if that was the case now.

Shalom:  no you wouldn’t

Shasha: anybody’s got we can burst out of the tent

[Music]

Sha’carri Richardson and The Crate Challenge | Onyx Family Podcast Ep. 1

Listen to this podcast episode here: https://spoti.fi/3CapwsM

Rita: Hi guys welcome to the onyx family podcast we are so happy that you’re here to join us as we talk about all your favorite topics and we just get into some really interesting discussions and probably some debates because guys there’s six of us here and we all have our own opinions on it.

Sinead: That is true that is so true.

Rita: For example let’s talk about this race, okay the 100 meters just happened, and shikari

came in ninth what do y’all think about that?

Shasha: Who came in first?

Mirthell: Elaine Thompson

Shasha: Elaine Thompson, is she like a famous sprinter?

Mirthell: She is the fastest woman right now on the planet

Rita: really?

Mirthell:  yeah and she’s from Jamaica hey

Rita: Okay okay so yeah, Mirthell is Jamaican. Jamaican Canadian really right?

Mirthell: right my parents are both from jamaica

Rita: right, which means this family is like half Jamaican half American.

Sinead: yep yep

Rita: although my grandmother’s family is from jamaica so

Whoo I claim it oh no okay can I yeah?

Mirthell: on one side

Rita: on one side? yeah that’s true

Mirthell: the other side African-American

Rita: My other side is from, where was it?

Mirthell and Sinead: North Carolina

Rita: right anyways guys first of all I commend all the racers

All: Oh yeah

Rita: all of them

Mirthell: I mean even Sha’carri

Rita: Sha’carri was, she did really really well

Mirthell: yeah

Rita: what I think a lot of people were surprised with, was her confidence even after the race even after losing.

Shasha: I know did you see her interview after like she was just like yeah I’m gonna get ready for the next race the next race and I was like whoa okay.

Mirthell: No, I like that!

Sinead: that also I heard that even her even her being in ninth was still would have in a

different race she would have made second like that would have been the second-best though.

Rita: wow

Mirthell: she is.. let’s put this into context before we get into the topic she is the sixth-fastest time ever in the world.

Sinead: yeah,

Mirthell: The sixth fastest time, That is huge.

Sinead: That is huge.

Mirthell: and right now presently I think she is the third fastest alive, so even though she came in ninth in this race if you took her best time she comes in third

Shasha: wow

Mirthell: in the living the people that are alive

Sinead: That’s alive right now.

Mirthell: Like presently alive. Not alive but are competing.

Rita: Wait, wait wait. I’m not sure about the math with that. how would she be third of the live when eight other people were faster than her?

Mirthell: They were only faster than her in this race.

Rita: Oh, in this particular race. got it.

Mirthell: right right. if let’s just say you you cramp up and you have a cramp on one of your races and you come in last that doesn’t mean that you’re not faster than the other people that had a good day

Sinead: Right right right that’s true.

Shasha: It is speaking facts.

Mirthell: Like yeah exactly, perspective Sha’carri is super fast and she is dangerous.

Rita: Okay, let me tell you how you guys know that he’s Jamaican. He will not say Sha’carri’s name the same way twice. Its (Sha’cairi, Sha’caria, Shakira).

Sinead: He said it several times, in different ways.

Everyone: (laughs)

Mirthell: Well that’s how we do it, yeah but honestly I mean I think that it’s undeniable that she is one of the fastest people alive and that she’s going to be dangerous to this sport especially because she’s very confident in herself.

Sinead: that’s true

Shasha: Okay but this race gave me deja vu. It’s when we got dusted in our first race.

Rita: Ooohh.

Mirthell: What race is that?

Shasha: so a few years ago we were

Sinead: Few years? More like a 10?

Shasha: For 10 years ago, like a decade ago, we were like really really little? me and Sinead were racing for like a church event and all the girls they were super fit super tall ministry were just tiny there we had no training.

Rita: this is the thing, okay this is the thing I did not want them to race did I tell you guys that? I really didn’t want y’all to race.

Mirthell: yeah I and mommy had a conversation

Rita: We had a conversation because I said to your dad I’m like why are they doing this you know they’re going to lose every single one of these other racers actually train and they are going to be smoked and you guys it was oh I just felt so bad.

Shalom: but here’s the thing here’s the thing when you’re younger you don’t even realize this you just want to have fun it’s like me when I wanted to go on a roller coaster I didn’t even I wasn’t scared at the time when I was younger because I was like yeah you know it’s just a roller coaster it’s supposed to be fun I don’t associate it with fear you know with you guys running I was admiring you guys you know just going up to the race and just

Shasha: wait, I thought you told me that you were afraid to lose that’s why you didn’t come with us

Shalom: no I just knew you were like I was gonna be wiped.

Mirthell: No, Shalom will just jump in the water and she doesn’t know how to swim, she will just like.

Shalom: exactly you guys I don’t think at the time you guys realized you guys were going to lose I think you guys just wanted to have fun

Sinead: At that time I did not think about it like oh I might lose!

Rita: I felt so bad and I saw everybody else around me because they knew you guys were my children they were like oh that was so sweet

Sinead: oh boy

Rita: I’m like oh my goodness.

Mirthell: But honestly when it comes to Sha’carra?

Everyone: (laughs)

Mirthell: No when it comes to her I think that it also tells other lessons and the other lesson is that you gotta train man you can’t just be confident in yourself

Shasha: right

Mirthell: if you’re gonna go into this race she knew she didn’t train well enough she knew this but she had this false sense of confidence if she doesn’t get over this false sense of sort of like the entitlement like I‘m gonna do it just because she probably will never reach her potential if she begins to train if this is a humbling moment for her I think she could be the fastest woman at some given point in time.

Rita: but you know what’s interesting about what you were saying I’m actually reading a book called talent is not enough

Shalom: really

Rita: so this actually talks about it like you can’t go into life with just your raw talent you’ve got to train it you’ve got to polish it you got to hone that skill whatever it is so you know a lot of times like even with youtube right when we first started youtube when we first did our first skit you guys remember?

Sinead: oh yeah it was tragic

Rita: it was a wreck and imagine if it still looked like that five years later you know same cameras that we were using right right um same costumes and all it would have been a wreck but with time we practiced and we honed it but a lot of people don’t really realize that in the background as well we were doing a lot of research a lot how to make our thumbnails how to edit how to light what type of equipment we should use like we started to really really hone like you guys had natural comedy skill but then what do we do with it so in every area whether you’re from youtube to racing or whatever it is you’ve got to hone your skills.

Mirthell:  I really love this though just for the fact that the female 100 meters have never really gotten the shine that it deserves.

Rita: Right, right yeah

Mirthell: with Usain Bolt and just the years of him dominating.

Rita: How come you can say his name properly?

Mirthell: Usain bolt?

Rita: I think this is a little bit misogynist? A little bit misogynist?

Shasha: Misogynist!

Mirthell: He’s Jamaican. I have gotta come correct with his name no but no but honestly like just stop and think about it since Flojo, Flojo was super fast and she dominated the field we haven’t gotten that shine on it yet.

Rita: right right.

Mirthell: you know interesting fact Flojo’s highest record was 10.49

Shasha: whoa

Mitchell: and only recently I learned this, that she actually it’s in question the 10 49.

Sinead: Wait, why?

Mirthell: so Elaine just ran 10 54 which is just Like five sec five milliseconds less than her and they’re saying that she potentially could be the fastest woman elaine Thompson here and the reason why is because when Flo jo ran the race you’re allowed a winning factor of two no more than two and on that day the winning factor was showing zero meaning that usually that never happens it’s either negative one or it’s a positive one to up to two or whatever and so they’re thinking that the machine was not working at that time and so it does not it doesn’t show it could have been over two and if it was over two then it wouldn’t have qualified.

Sinead: so basically they have a machine that calculates the wind factor on that day on the day it’s usually never zero so they’re thinking that it was malfunctioning that day which means that it could have been over two

Mirthell: and then that would have facilitated her actually running that fast

Rita:  I still don’t think it’s like we can’t go back in time so no I think that they shouldn’t take that away from Flojo. I don’t think so either keep training and training and training

Mirthell: someone just gotta be there someone just gotta beat it. I think that she was amazing she has enough time recorded to show that she was super fast in her time I mean we’re just breaking some of her other records just now so she clearly was the fastest woman but elaine Thompson here it was .09 meaning that it was less than a one-factor and she just came within 0.5

Rita: wow

Mirthell: So she’s clearly fast.

Shiloh: amazing.

Rita: So do you guys agree that it is because of well someone tweeted it was because they eat more naturally in Jamaica. Do you think that was a reason why they’re like the fastest, they’re just dominating the sport?

Shiloh: I feel like it’s mostly their motivation but maybe maybe it’s you know their diet, their healthy diet.

Shasha: eat a lot of pizza and you have motivation. I mean

Shalom: I just think all trainers have a strict diet I don’t think it’s just Jamaicans I think Americans have their own you know strict diet as well I think it’s different but you know I just think Jamaicans are a little bit more nutrition you know and have more nutritious you know meals.

Rita: Well yeah I mean ever since I met your dad he’s introduced me to some food that I’ve never eaten.

Mirthell: right.

Rita: like um yum, yum Dashain I mean rice and peas every day

Mirthell: right um.

Rita: What are the other ones?

Mirthell: uh green banana

Rita: green banana

Mirthell: before we call it our ground provision.

Sinead: What?

Mirthell: it’s like root vegetables.

Sinead: oh okay okay.

Mirthell: Chocho

Rita: And you know all I didn’t have church once before I met you and I wanted to like yeah I wanted to vomit I did not like it.

Shalom: not you dissing your own ancestry.

Rita: um, no no just the vegetable that’s it anyways I’m so glad.

Mirthell: granny lived to what?

Rita: 98

Mirthell: 98. she was super strong

Rita: right

Mirthell: she was like carrying those big like water jugs in her 80s

Rita: right

Mirthell: fully carried

Rita: She’s along with everything that we just talked about that she ate. she also ate chicken feet.

Mirthell: yeah yeah claw, chicken claws

Rita: Open the fridge and be like.

Mirthell: yeah you have to put that in the soup.

Shiloh: nasty

Sinead: what?

Mirthell: yeah so yeah I mean and she used to walk a lot so the parish that she’s from it’s actually close to the parish that well we’re related to Kamala harris gotta throw gotta throw that out.

Rita: I know right.

Mirthell: okay okay, but where she lived in the parish that she lived it was in saint Anne and so they would walk a lot and so she walked a lot so she was just shy of her 99th birthday and she was super strong like some of those that like with that water jug I would be like trying to lift it up and I’ll be like spilling it she’ll just be like.

Shasha: You think, you think if granny trained hard enough she would be able to beat Flojo?

Mitchell: no granny was what was called she was a big woman she was what we call strapping she was a strapping woman so so she she wasn’t running she could probably do like you know

[Music]

Rita: I feel like every other culture in the world walks more than probably Americans.

Sinead: probably!

Rita: probably I mean for me being from L.A. we drive everywhere

Sinead: Well, it would be pretty far of a walk if you were walking everywhere you know?

Rita: yes that’s true you gotta hike up those mountains that are true hiking is a big thing out there, I don’t know I think for me I like the car culture just give me some give me a nice parking space, anyway I’m just glad guys that we got to watch like it was history I mean it didn’t like break let’s say Flo-jo’s record but still it was amazing to even see that.

Shalom: speaking of history I want to talk about Jay-Z and Beyonce’s campaign with tiffany and company okay so I was you guys did you guys all see the Instagram photo that she posted

yesterday yes I thought it was a very interesting photo first off one of the photos she posted three but one that stood out to me was Jay Z and Beyonce jay-z was sitting and right across from him was this portrait right it was a graffiti portrait and the picture looked very familiar to me and I realized oh wait a minute I think I know this artist his name is.. hold on because I don’t want to butcher his name I wrote it down his name is jean-michel basque so he was a famous artist.

Mirthell: You might have still butchered the name

Shalom: no Jean Michel Basquiat.

Rita: I think she looked at the pronunciation

Shalom: yeah I did I did

Mirthell: the Jamaican in you.

Shiloh: It’s Jean? You sure? it’s jean

Sinead: okay yes it’s JEAN nobody says gene nobody’s a gene j it’s okay

Shalom: it’s j-e-a-n that’s john that’s john

Shiloh: okay Billie jean or billy john?

Sinead: No way Shiloh!

Rita: It’s not Michael Jackson.

Shalom: Okay, anyway he was an artist in the 80s and considered a cultural icon in the art community he was also self-taught too so he didn’t like go to school or anything like that he was known for his style and his style was more abstraction and figuration and his things consist of police brutality wealth versus poverty integration and versus segregation and so forth his art has sold for millions like I think he’s like the biggest purchase was like 155 million like his art was like very you know it’s very iconic his art and Jay-z is actually a known art collector so he likes his as you know.

Shasha: His art he bought for a hundred million?

Shalom: no no no not him other people.

Mirthell: like what’s with jay-z though?

Rita: because of the picture he took on Instagram he took a picture in front of that painting.

Mirthell: oh okay

Shalom: yeah no it’s actually a never that artist yes it was actually a never before seen picture of his and so like it was in his um you know he.

Rita: So that whole picture just dripped with wealth.

Shalom: I know from that picture

Rita: All right, I don’t, I don’t want to call it a picture that portrait.

Shalom: portrait yeah

Rita: to that to that to the necklace?

Shalom: yeah yeah

Rita: Hook that Sinead for her.

Sinead: Let me pull up the photo real quick because I want to show Sasha the photo so she knows what we’re talking about.

Shalom: you guys should look at his other art. It was so interesting.

Rita: But talk about the necklace.

Shalom: okay so the necklace is out so it’s called the tiffany yellow diamond it’s regarded as one of the largest yellow diamonds ever and it was discovered in southern Africa in 1877 and it was bought by Charles tiffany only four women were able to wear it the first time it was worn it was by Mrs e Sheldon white house at the 1957 tiffany ball the second time it was worn by Audrey Hepburn in 1961 and was photographed for her campaign for like breakfast at tiffany’s you guys in that movie yeah the third the third time it was worn by lady gaga and it was for the 91st academy awards and the fourth was Beyonce for this campaign that she’s doing and she’s actually the first black woman to actually wear it.

Everyone: wow

Sinead: that is so..dancing

Shalom: I just got this like a couple of minutes before we even started but Nicki Minaj is set to wear it for the Grammy awards and so she’ll be like the first female rapper to actually wear it.

Rita: wow

Shalom: so I thought that was like

Sinead: how did they find out that she was set to wear it?

Shalom: I don’t know, I just saw that on Wikipedia and I was like oh that’s interesting.

Sinead:  I think they feel like they’re getting more and more people aware because before lady gaga wore it in 2019 the last time it was worn was 1961.

Rita: yeah well what has it been doing since then?

Sinead: exactly! Just sitting there.

Mirthell:  why are we having all these superstars wearing it all of a sudden?

Sinead: wait well no Abby Hepburn was a superstar isn’t she?

Shalom: yes yes well I’m just saying my point is that she was a superstar and she’s the last one who wore it before lady gaga

Mirthell: wow so they’re just..

Rita: yeah but where was it chilling for 50 years?

Shalom: I don’t know, no i think it was in some sort of museum

Everyone: oh..

Shalom: I think so they decided to have more people wear it.

Mirthell: I mean this is a big thing for you guys? Like I know, I have known our family literally for years. Our family has not worn any jewelry and I think sinead probably in the last two years.

Shalom: What interested me about this whole thing was I like the history of it like a black man’s portrait right there and then like this necklace you know in the minds of south africa i just thought that you know the combination of those two.

Rita: Wait, did you mention that basque was black?

Shalom: oh i’m so sorry i left that part.he was actually a black man from new york and he..

Sinead: I didn’t know this.

Rita: I was thinking it was something else.

Shalom: no no no no he’s else no he’s like haitian and puerto rican that’s why i have the name and so he was from new york and unfortunately he died in the 80s by an overdose of a drug at the age of 27 because of the pressure that he felt of being like you know very iconic artist back then and so he was very known in the new york culture of hearts

Mirthell: what makes something i guess my point is what makes something valuable?

Sinead: Well, it’s a diamond.

Mirthell: I mean yeah, a diamond is valuable.

Sinead:  it’s a yellow

Shalom: between a diamond and his portrait like what made his portrait?

Sinead: I don’t know about the portrait part but I do . I’m just saying it’s a diamond.

Rita: I’ve always maintained that  I can’t see myself spending that much money on art but I do know that ultra rich people buy art the same way that I think lower than them like maybe not as rich but other rich people buy like real estate to invest in.

Mirthell: right so art is an investment

Shasha: no but i heard rich people do that because art you can write it off in taxes.

Rita: right all taxes investing and it gets and usually the art and everything they just gets more um the worth goes up

Sinead: But let’s be real, let’s be real how many cars can you get?

exactly like well cars go down cars cars don’t the cars don’t appreciate they’re

not appreciating it like once you become super super rich it’s either cars houses and apparently portraits and jewelry.

Mirthell: well i wouldn’t put cars on that level because like it’s a depreciation.

Shalom: what about property, what about property?

Rita: properties a lot you got to manage it you got to you know it’s a lot but art i’ve heard that there’s or i’ve seen that there are like places where you actually store all your precious art like you don’t keep it around your house these are these are temperature. controlled only certain people can go in there it’s bigger.

Sinead: oh you know what i remember seeing that like that kind of

thing in that movie that we watched!

Rita: right uh what was that one what was it called it was?

Sinead:It starts with an “I”? Tenant.

Mirthell: yeah well i’m impressed because a lot of

are just based on what do you call it what’s that word where you you presume appreciation for something like um

Sinead: not opinion but like a point of view no perspective like when somebody puts value on something just based on their perspective. What’s that word?

Shasha: beholder?

Shalom: No that’s not really i mean it’s almost like that but not really.

Mirthell: it’s that word where is this like when one person looks at one person’s channel and says oh you’re worth this so you know you value yeah the value of it but it’s awesome.

Rita: Perceived Value?

Mirthell: see Perceived value, that’s what i was looking for because

Rita: that’s been my buzzword (laughs)

Mirthell: exactly that’s why i was looking at you but perceived value and most times black

people’s worth and their perceived value usually is not valued that high so i’m impressed that somebody looked at his art and said this is just as much as a picasso even though he’s a black man.

Rita: That’s wonderful, yeah, wow i still don’t know if i’d spend 150 million i mean i would have to have so much money i mean so much money before i start collecting art.

Shalom: oh yeah

Rita: cause i feel like i feel like if i had a home in L.A earthquake if i have a home in the south tornado if i have like whatever like i’m just feeling like and then this thing i spent all this

money now i don’t know but it would.

Sinead: be in like a safe house or something

Rita: Oh yeah yeah i forgot so never mind i would do it.

Shalom: But can you guys name any other artists like any black or colored artist I mean other than like Michelangelo and what’s the other one donatello.

Mirthell: These are all the ninja turtles.

Shiloh: Shalom to be really honest we are not in the art world like you’re only naming the ones that a four-year-old knows because he watches his daily ninja turtles on nickelodeon or something like that.

Rita: Did you say foil?

Sinead: no, a four-year-old.

Rita: oh four-year-old

Shasha: a four-year-old

Rita: i thought you were using like gamer language like what’s a foil

Shiloh: not a kitchen foil

Shasha: no he said a year old.

Shiloh: yeah four year old.

Rita: anyway guys i mean let’s take it down from high art now and let’s go lowbrow i mean low bro i mean lowest of the low

Mirthell: where are we going?

Rita: we’re talking about crate challenge

Shalom: no way.

Mirthell: oh boy oh my goodness.

Shalom: absolutely not.

Shiloh: I have seen on twitter tons of injuries and I’ve seen the videos oh it looks dangerous.

Shasha: So what is Shiloh what is the challenge? I only seen like one video but I don’t understand what it is.

Shiloh: I think from what i’ve seen you stack like a lot of milk crates on top of each other you do climb over them in like this sort of straight line.

Rita: no no it’s like a pyramidal.

Shiloh: yeah yeah a pyramid you go up and then go down and you try to balance on it um but some people it crumbles and just topples over and then..

Sinead: some people, most people.

Rita: I’d say 99%.

Shiloh: yeah 99.

Mirthell: i saw this one girl though she was in heels and she did it like a boss

Sinead: I need to see that!

Mirthell: yeah yeah she did it in heels like a boss

Sinead: because I saw another video where a man did it and he was able to do it easily.

Mirthell: right.

Rita: Well all i know is that i cant understand in the climate we’re In that we’re gonna go intentionally to the hospital i’m confused.

Mirthell: I don’t understand (laughs) I’m trying to stay out of the hospital

Rita and Mirthell: we don’t wanna, we don’t wanna burden them.

Mirthell: Right Right but we open these streets you know just trying to go to the hospital. No, where are they getting the milk cartons?

Rita: That’s what I’m wondering.

Mirthell: I’ve never seen them.. in years

Sinead: I’ve never seen them.

Rita: I’ve seen them since like the 80s

Mirthell: yeah

Rita: I don’t understand.

Sinead: no but I don’t even see them in the stores.

Rita: But what I think you should do is you go behind grocery stores.

Sinead: You can steal them?

Rita: Usually they’re stacked there.

Sinead: what? They’re stealing them?

Mirthell:  the last time that i saw milk cartons was back when i used to go in my clubbing days and the DJ always used to carry his albums in the crate

Rita: yeah

Sinead: What? You’re 100!

Mirthell: But beyond that I don’t even know why we keep them.

Rita: And then I saw, I saw this tweet where it showed people like you can buy it and it was for sale for 99 cents and then the tweet was you guys be careful y’all they want us to hurt ourselves.

Sinead: I saw that they said the CIA dropped it off.

Mirthell: But you know what milk cartons are like. First of all I can’t even remember what the milk is like. I know it’s carrying milk but in Canada we had bagged milks.

Sinead: what?

Shiloh: bagged milks?

Mirthell: yeah you have bag milk we don’t have like cartons.

Sinead: wait wait hold on you were in your household with bagged milk?

Mirthell: yeah it comes in like a clear plastic, we don’t drink we never drank milk back you know when i was growing up we never drank milk from cartons.

Rita: wow

Mirthell: we always drink milk from bag milk so it’s like you you had these little jugs and you would take the but we you put like this plastic you put your milk in plastic and then you put it inside the jug and then you cut the tip and that’s how you pour your milk we didn’t have jugs

Rita: I’ve seen that when i so when i met daddy i went to um Toronto obviously and yeah i was like what is this and what is like how am i supposed to what are you supposed to do and daddy had to show me and i’m like oh this is very very interesting because for me obviously like i said born and raised in L.A we had cartons and we went through the whole um you know when they used to put missing children on the cartons and it was like an informational thing so to not have that and just have bags it was very different and i can’t say it was better for the environment because it’s still it’s plastic well carton was i think more biodegradable so..

Shiloh: for the years I lived in Canada I have never seen that in my life.

Sinead: yeah did they get rid of it, did they phase out?

Mirthell: no we just didn’t drink milk that’s when we were drinking soy milk so

Rita: Do they still do that?

Mirthell: I think they do. I think they still have milk.

Sinead: But not only bags, they can’t have only bag milk.

Mirthell: No, I think they have both now.

Sinead: Oh okay okay.

Mirthell: but back in the day it was just all bagged.

Rita: well in the 50s didn’t they have people that just delivered it in like jars, glass so you know, it always evolves.

Sinead: yeah they evolved, yeah wow.

Mirthell: the evolution of milk has now come to killing yourself over it.

Shalom: question when they delivered milk in the 50s and i don’t know if you just know this because of history because you know you barely you didn’t you never lived in the 50s or 60s did you have to do a delivery sort of service like sign up for something together?

Sinead: That’s true it was like a thing you signed up for where they like we’re gonna deliver to every house no matter what?

Rita: I feel like it was the same way like you do a newspaper probably whenever you moved whatever the local library was milk delivery.

Shalom: Do you like having a subscription or no?

Rita: I don’t think they did i think it was just, well i think it was the same way you do it like you have a morning paper well they probably give a flyer or something you know like when you first move into a neighborhood you get the flyer and it shows all the things like when’s your garbage and all that stuff.

Mirthell: All right but what I can’t understand is why didn’t they just pick up the milk at the grocery store why did it happen?

Shalom: no no because there’s no grocery stores back then.

Mirthell: Well, they had to have some market.

Rita: oh it was like butchers and then it wasn’t like how we have it now.

Shiloh: plus like speaking on what you guys were saying about there was no grocery stores they were just stands yeah like stands.

Mirthell: oh that’s true then you can keep the milk cold enough.

Sinead: right and also bread and stuff.

Mirthell: That’s true.

Sinead: and people made their own food most of the time so it’s not like they were buying pre-made things right right you know.

Shiloh: Plus a lot of people back then did not want to carry bags of milk all the way home because sometimes there were no cars or anything.

Sinead and Rita: That is true.

Sinead: It would be heavy, it would be really heavy.

Shiloh: Really heavy..

Mirthell: they had the milkman all the way up into the 60s.

Sinead: no but why’d they get rid of it?

Mirthell: I think they got rid of the milkman because well you know maybe maybe maybe. (laughs)

Rita: well, the local, butcher.

Sinead: that’s true oh they probably just got out of business because of supermarkets

Shiloh: okay so basically, home milk delivery from local dairies and creameries was a mainstay for many families in the 1950s and 60s but as it became easier and cheaper to buy milk at the grocery store and as processors were developed to extend milk shelf life the milkman began to fade into the past.

Mirthell: That makes sense.

Sinead: oh that makes sense that makes sense.

Shalom: wow i don’t know i just feel like that was the start of the fading of old jobs back then you know how there’s like less and less jobs as the years go by.

Mirthell: jobs are fading out right.

Rita: like like the people who used to stay out on the corner like buy the newspaper

Mirthell: right

Shalom: exactly.

Rita: “extra, extra” like we don’t see that anymore.

Mirthell: technology technology and just advancement in sciences phasing out a lot of these jobs.

Shiloh: I don’t think you see someone at a stadium saying he’s a popcorn he’s a popcorn or anything so..

Shasha: Wait, speaking of replacing jobs, did you hear that Elon Musk is creating an AI robot to do tasks like small tasks.

Mirthell: Well that’s it! Everybody’s unemployed now.

Shasha: A lot of jobs you can look up literally he literally made just this week it was announced.

Sinead and Shalom: I saw that.

Rita: Like I don’t understand I was raised on Terminator. I just don’t understand this all I know is that I can’t remember which company it was but there was something where they recently had to shut it down because the AI was talking to each other.

Sinead: what? that’s?

Rita: yeah and that’s weird and that was just like they had to shut it down because i mean it’s dangerous. i used to think terminator and all that was just fake like oh this can’t happen but after seeing especially the black mirror episode we saw right that was just like freaky and then to see a few months later them actually have the prototype of it i was just like wait i don’t understand why are we doing this?

Shiloh: just the other day i saw a youtube video of a showcase because remember like years ago i used to show you guys like those robot videos and everything they’re still working on it and like this thing called spot this robotic dog is not for sale like it’s like for like a lot of money but like it does test for you and everything it’s an AI built inside like this little robotic dog toy thing it’s super scary it walks around.

Mirthell: you know why they call it spot right?

Sinead: no

Mirthell: in the 80s and it might have even been before the 80s because I just read it in the 80s but back probably in the 60s they used to be like see spot run run spot run it was like these little children and i was from the 60s.

Rita: Even up until when we were learning how to read.

Mirthell: right I actually learned to read off of c spot run anyhow was a dog that

Shalom: I learned how to read by Dr seuss.

Mirthell: Dr Seuss yeah. Dr Seuss robots.

Shasha: They try to make people sound innocent.

Rita: I know, I know. I don’t know man, I just don’t know about people.

Mirthell: Yeah, I trust that I trust the children.

Shalom: But, do you guys think that society is slowly becoming lazier the more that technology has advanced.

Mirthell: oh no I know that

Sinead: I don’t think we’re getting lazier but I know that we have it easier in terms of life. well, it depends because I feel like we’re just talking Americans because it’s not like the rest of the world has it.

Mirthell: That’s true that’s true I mean we’re microwaving things so we don’t have to cook guys you know we’re jumping in a car so we don’t have to walk.

Sinead: yeah I mean if we’re talking easier I would just say it’s mostly the western world that’s right and when I say western I mean maybe the united states Canada and the UK section area.

Rita: Well I think about Africa where and you know Africa is a continent so I’m not saying you know.

Shiloh: the more humans become lazier the more it gives robots a chance to rule the world.

Sinead: Okay, Thanks Shiloh!

Mirthell: So clearly you’re on the robot side I mean you gotta like to make fun of them first.

Rita: make friends

Sinead: make friends with them?

Shiloh: yeah, I mean.. want to get on the bad side

Sinead: Siri, are you listening? Don’t

Rita: but back to shalom’s point about like are we getting lazier i think that technology has really helped just lifto get easier not necessarily lazier for some so for example take many countries

in africa who did not have the infrastructure for telephone lines they kind of leaped frog

that and went into cell phones which made life a whole lot easier because they were able to do banking from it they’re able to do so many things and i think that technology is it’s just really i

there’s a lot of things that we have here that i think are just unnecessary i mean really like for example, the robot dogs but i think if we kind of put more of our time and our energy in these other countries helping to wherever they want it not not not based off of what we think they should have but wherever they want it maybe help them more with their infrastructure like access to water transportation better electro electronic grids things like that because i feel like what is such a waste of time i am not hiring some robot humanoid to come into my house yeah it’s ridiculous.

Shalom: Oh, imagine if we replace Sug with the robot?

Shasha: NO.

Mirthell: oh that’s that’s sad.

Sinead:You look too happy there Shalom.

Shalom: No, I was just look at your face. I wanted to see how you would react.

Rita: no but there’s some remember that movie it’s with Hayley Joel Osment um where he’s like uh he’s not a real human but he’s like a little boy and he replaced like this couple’s.

Mirthell: Did you just share the name of the actor with me?

Rita: Yeah, like you know.

Mirthell: Like I know I know I don’t know people. I don’t know these technical things.

Rita: It’s not irobot.

Shalom: science?

Rita: what it’s called no it’s not science.

Shiloh: no no because i remember the movie that movie now a movie literally years ago it made me literally cry so i don’t like the movie

Sinead: You know the movie they’re talking about?

Shiloh: yes, because in the end okay spoilers we haven’t watched it doesn’t he like the apocalypse happen the city floods he goes in the water and then the aliens find them like years later

Rita: yes and then oh ai artificial intelligence..

Shiloh: after that,

Mirthell: good memory, I don’t remember that.

Shiloh: no no because earlier in the story the son the real son actually comes back and so now they have two sons so they abandon the robotic son and then the robotic son makes friends along the way they know that it up because he basically gets abandoned he was actually he was about to get destroyed actually but the mother saves him actually so He went on a journey to find his parents again years later but he finds out in the end they died

Rita: Have you watched this recently or something?

Shiloh: no but no.

Mirthell: wait are you the robot version of Shiloh basically at the end all humanity died he’s the only one left and the aliens find him they’re like well what happened and then they load up a memory of like a day in his life where he gets to spend time with his mom and everything and then.

Rita: I remember that movie I wanted to cry.

Shiloh: no i cried no i cried.

Mirthell: There’s triggered Shiloh.

Rita: This is a good job. When did you see this?

Mirthell: This was a long time ago.

Shiloh: 2018 in our theater.

Mirthell:  This is a long time ago 2018. I mean he was like  what? 10 11?

Rita: oh okay okay. I know that’s so true.

Mirthell: 2018 he was like he just turned 10 or 11. like wow how is he remembering like detailed.

Shiloh: oh yeah i think he was in like the circus as well like this circus.

Sinead: bro yo.

Rita: i cannot believe you remember it so well

Shiloh: it was a 2001 film.

Mirthell: You guys are just sad about the story.

Shalom: Shiloh i just want to say that this is the first time i ever heard you say that you cried over a movie so i want to ask Sinead, Sasha mommy daddy and myself what movie did you guys cry over?

Shiloh: Wait before you guys say that. i’ve actually cried with a lot of other shows or movies but i never cried in front of you guys so

Mirthell: Okay all right all right all right, so which movie did you guys cry?

Rita: Okay I cried in schindler’s list. I mean I sobbed actually as i’ve gotten older i feel like i’ve become much more sensitive. I will cry at commercials now.

Shasha: no

Rita: supersonic airplane. I don’t know if it was just.

Shasha: wait what was that what was that um movie dirty dancing you cried at the end with the song i [Music]

Rita: Yeah, I cried a lot now.

Mirthell: Shasha, have you ever cried?

Shasha: song at church years ago vacation bible school i cried there but that wasn’t a movie that was like.

Rita:It just kind of came out of the blue

Shiloh: Shasha, I feel like you wanted to do that cliche crying thing so..

Shasha: No, maybe I want attention?

Shiloh: I think you forced yourself

Rita: no no you guys weren’t even around it was just me and her and she was just sitting there and then all of a sudden i felt like she was trying to hold it back and then all of a sudden she just started sobbing.

Shiloh: because I think she forced herself to be honest.

Mirthell: No, the words were probably powerful.

Rita: it was the word

Mirthell: which one was

Sinead: it i think she first no it was wrong old vbs

Mirthell: I can’t remember crying though I really can’t.

Shasha: Daddy sleeps in movies.

Sinead: That’s true he’s sleeps.

Rita: You don’t cry either.

Mirthell: No, I don’t cry.

Sinead: I don’t want to say because you guys are really just saying.

Shiloh: oh no i think i know um.. Big foot six

Shalom: Do you know what big foot six is?

Mirthell: yeah isn’t it that big balloon guy?

Shalom: yes!

Mirthell: Are you serious?

Rita: First of all, how do you remember that?

Mirthell: I don’t know, I don’t know.

Shiloh: here comes my memory again it was only me you and sasha and during the movie actually they didn’t even have the first few minutes of the movie actually so the tape yeah you remember it so the everyone was complaining in the theater like what the what is going on and everything and then they had they had to Um i think uh

Mirthell: oh that’s right.

Shiloh: uncover the tape.

Mirthell: we’re at the theater and they didn’t play the first section for some reason. Something happened.yeah and then it started yeah we missed the first part.

Shiloh: and you mom and shalom you guys were somewhere else

Mirthell: And we were like this was getting popcorn.

Shiloh: No, we were in the city places.

Rita: I think we went on another movie?

Shalom: I remember, we watched The Maze Runner.

Sinead: I get teary eyed with K-Dramas.

Shasha: oh my goodness oh my goodness

Mirthell: oh no no

Shiloh: no how can you cry over kdramas that is so cheesy like you sodas.

Sinead: no, i’m just you don’t understand, you know i can’t even explain to you

Shiloh: Sinead.

Shasha: She would’ve cried over our cartoon so no.

Mirthell: guys you cried over our cartoon?

Rita: oh you know what i cried over oh my goodness grey’s anatomy.

Shiloh: oh oh my god i can sleep during that.

Rita: There are certain songs that come on even if it’s not on the show like just in the this regular streaming and if i hear it it’ll trigger the scene back to when they used it on grey’s anatomy and i will start crying and i’m like i can’t watch the show anymore i haven’t watched it in a few years just because i can’t do it anymore i can’t

Shiloh: how? Like..

Rita: it’s too sad

Shiloh: how does one doctor show turn to some like some gunfight and then..

Rita: it’s like a hospital of death honestly

Shiloh: hospital of death.

Rita: i don’t ever i would never want to work there in real life ever

Shalom: I just have a whole list of things I cry over. I have playlists of the songs I cry over. I have memories that trigger me crying.

Sinead: You wrote it down to make you feel like crying?

Shalom: Yeah and so Literally certain scenes from tv shows that make me want to cry like if i just feel like crying one day I’m just like okay I’m gonna cry.

Shiloh: wait what wait how long you never said something that you cried over so you said.

Mirthell: Well she’s telling us she has a whole bunch.

Shiloh: she’s like you’re only saying yeah songs that i i’ve cried

Mirthell: All right, give us one of your favorites.

Shalom: my favorite song?

Sinead: if you know your favorite song.

Mirthell: anything.

Sinead: cry over a movie a show or movie

Shalom: oh man, it’s hard because i cry over everything

Mirthell: oh my goodness but you know what one thing about shalom is when shalom wants mommy to cry she will start playing certain songs in the car like and then oh and then rita will be like turn it off turn it off i don’t want to cry.

Shalom: i watched this show the other day it’s called to your eternity but this little boy that was sad i did tear up with that, that was sad it was about this little boy who was out in the middle of like the antarctica and then he was trying to find his village because his village abandoned him years ago to go find some land and as he was searching he just found their graves and then when he went back he lost hope and then he cried and died

Sinead: he died. yes all spoilers yeah you know what spoilers spoilers spoilers

Shalom: he had this dog with him and the dog turned into the little boy.

Mirthell: you know what one of the movies that I come close to I’ve had come close to crying before was simon birch because that’s like really inspirational

Shiloh: okay

Mirthell: one of my favorite movies of all time simon birch

Shiloh: okay, basically

Rita: 20 years

Mirthell: And so now we have like an adjective we say where’s simon birching it.

Sinead: yes when you know this something whenever you’re doing something in your life and you don’t even realize what you’re doing before but you’re doing something you might be..

Mirthell: super critical.

Sinead: yeah

Mirthell: but you don’t know that it is it’s just something small that you’re doing but it ends up being your life

Sinead: saver

Mirthell: meaning your life.

Rita: And again in the movie signs it was like when that little girl would leave water all over the house.

Mirthell: right  in the comments she was simon

Shasha: That is skipping over a lot of words I don’t understand you’re talking about. What does Simon Birch mean?

Sinead: let me give you an example, for example in simon burch he practiced holding his breath right he was practicing holding his breath for no reason he was just he was practicing for years then one day there was an accident like a bust going down under water and because he held his breath and practiced holding his breath he was able to hold his breath for a long time and

Mirthell: he saved all the kids i was wondering why is he so short because he had like a disability and he was so short yeah but him being short allowed the little kids to respect him because he was a short person just like them but he was you know he was very articulate.

Rita: yeah but um at the end i won’t spoil it for you

Sinead: oh yeah that was sad.

Shiloh: yeah but did he practice with baseball though because he kind of failed not gonna lie.

Sinead: you know what i’ll

Mirthell: stop it.

Sinead: how do you remember that?

Mirthell: do you have to been like nine or eight watching that one

Shiloh: she was she was at the fence i think uh spoilers spoilers because we watched it in the florida house uh basically we watched this

Shalom: no we didn’t we watched no no 2014 we watched it in the apartment in the car condo apartment.

Shiloh: Yeah okay basically spoilers he hit it the baseball and it went all the way to his like mother figure i think and then it killed her so

Mirthell: yeah it was his friend’s mother and it hit her in the head but we don’t want to spoil you got to go watch simon birk

Rita: sasha this little girl the daughter in the house she would drink water like maybe just a few sips and then leave her cups all around the house

Shalom: she sounds like me

Rita: And then when the aliens came we found out that the aliens actually burn acid like acid to their water so they were able to throw all that water on the alien that had come into their home.

Mirthell: right but but the father was just been driven crazy like why are you leaving water all over the place much like me when you guys do not drink your bottled water but for different reasons hey if you wanna if you wanna waste tap water that’s fine but a bottled water like it’s like this is this is the bottle of water okay this is this is our family when we get a bottled water okay and this is why i buy you guys mini waters.

Rita: all right all right i’m done i don’t want anymore you’re like the bottled water leave us police

[Music]

Shalom: but i just want to say that shiloh having an impeccable memory is talent i mean i can barely remember what i ate yesterday i just want to ask you guys what is your earliest memory

Rita: we’re getting personal. I hope you don’t go there shalom because we’ve already disproved your earliest memory.

Shiloh: Okay early memories lots of it was in the blue house actually like when i was like when i was four but like i have like a lot of memories of reading in the library uh next to the kitchen i think.

Mirthell: you know what i don’t know if that’s fair though because we have a lot of video and so your video could give you the memory.

Shalom: that’s true

Mirthell: no i’m talking about like my some of my earliest memories was before like videos okay and it was just could even trigger

Rita: Pictures can trigger your memory.

Mirthell: no not even pictures this was when we i was like about three and i got my head stuck inside um in the basement it’s traumatic it was in like alberta canada and i got my head stuck and i remember the basement it used to have this thing we called it the rat hole but it’s not really a rat hole but we just call it a rat hole okay it was just like one of those storage places that you can like open or whatever and the reason why i remember my head stuck is because i was just like worried about the rat hole. okay that somehow..

Sinead: in the banister like the rail

Mirthell: well the stairs went down and i i don’t know how i did but i got my head in the stairs it’s like wooden stairs that didn’t have a back piece to it so it’s just like it’s just what so somehow i’ve

managed to get my head like all those modern stirs are like sometimes where there’s no battery

Sinead: There’s no back part to it.

Mirthell: I didn’t know what’s stuck there. I don’t know how my parents were just trying to figure out how to get my head out. I had a big head. I didn’t know how I got it in but I couldn’t get it.

Shiloh: Speaking of memories, I do recall this one time we were at this historical place. It was like this long way okay we have like one picture of it i have to explain in detail.

Shasha: Are you sure you remember or you’re making it?

Shiloh: yes yes.

Sinead: early memories without pictures.

Shiloh: We were in front of this house also because you would enter in this house it would show there were rails over like the rooms.

Sinead: okay what’s the story though what’s the story though i want to know what the story is.

Shiloh: it was it was like someone i don’t know where it was what’s the story it was somewhere we went for a fridge a trip it um

Rita: i feel like it might have been louisiana

Shiloh: yeah yeah yeah

Rita: That was 2015.

Shiloh: yeah that was no no no no no no.

Mirthell: okay eight or seven?

Sinead: but it’s here remember simon burch which is 2014.

Shiloh: okay what about um that restaurant

Rita: oh 2013, louisiana 2013.

Sinead: oh are you talking about you’re talking about our new orleans trip?

Rita: yeah yeah 2013 yeah

Shiloh: I went over the rail actually and went into the historical room and mommy pulled me right away saying don’t go in because they are wrong.

Sinead: oh so now i know what you’re saying Shiloh saying that there was a plant we were in a plantation house right and then yes they had um railed off rooms

Shiloh: uh-huh and they had displays there to show the railings yes okay i went directly to

there because i had no clue why they were off so i was like why isn’t no one going here i mean i i could just go ahead and then my yay i had no clue what was going on

Rita: i think my earliest memory i honestly i can’t tell the difference between whether something was planted by a Picture or if this is a memory i really don’t feel like

Mirthell: Well you’d have to know that you have a picture of it then and do you know if you have a picture.

Rita: i feel like it was a very very very early like party when i was a child that’s what i can’t remember but it was in the backyard in our home in L.A. i can’t remember though

Mirthell: well i do see some pictures of like you at a birthday party

Rita: But I was way too young because that was like a baby one or one yeah i don’t think i have a memory of that.

Sinead: i think my earliest memory is playing with care bears in some kind of park and we always we would park our car this is michigan we would park our car and open the trunk we could hang out there or we would be on at a park bench and we’d play with care bears that’s my earliest memory i know we don’t have a picture of that i’ve never seen a picture of them.

Mirthell: no no no no we don’t.

Sinead: I promise you there’s no picture Sasha.

Sasha:I remember I was playing. We were playing with care bears actually on our legs um we’re sitting on a hospital bed. It was during Shiloh’s birth not during but we’re in some type of hospital and we’re playing care bears on our legs.

Rita: that’s right you were four then because we were um when Shiloh was one

Sasha: I remember especially in michigan.

Mirthell: What’s with care bears?
